Pips conundrum

Post by sergiensergien »

Hi!

I've been trying to get around this small problem to try to code some basket strategies. Let's think we have two orders in a basket at the same time:
  • Order 1: EURUSD - BUY 1 lot with a loss of 100€
  • Order 2: EURUSD - SELL 2 lots with a profit of 200€

So the total profit/loss is +100€ (I'm not counting swaps nor commissions).

Let's see the result in pips:
  • Order 1: EURUSD - BUY 1 lot with a loss of 10 pips
  • Order 2: EURUSD - SELL 2 lots with a profit of 10 pips

So the total profit/loss is +0 pips.

Is this logic sound?

I've been looking through both the code of the MPTM and MPBM and in both cases the total sum of pips seems to follow this logic.

Best regards,
Sergien

Hi

Of course it's logic, cause Profit $ is Pips * Volume !

Thanks, Phil!

Now I understand why Steve put all the "percentage" logic into the code of the basket part of the MPTM.
