On the less negative side,

the new build will allow experimentation with functionality of MQL5 while still allowing fallback to familiar code when necessary.

There are definitely aspects of MQL5 which are worth having and as far as I can see, mixed up MQL5 and mql4 code seems to be allowed.

This will reduce the ridiculous mql4->mql5 overhead which previously existed

I encourage everyone to contact their brokers and ask when exactly they intend to implement the new Build v575, and that you are upset that it will no longer support programs and commercial products you had paid for. Ask them what alternatives they offer for trading with programs and that you are reluctant to follow MQL any longer under these circumstances, and you may have to withdraw your deposits if your programs and indicators will no longer work.

Customer responses may help to force MQL to keep the option of running older programs and platforms.

Responses of my brokers so far have been mixed. Bully Pepperstone is apologetic and says they have little control with updates, but they are in process of offering CTrader. FinFx seems to be missing the boat, they quote replies from MQL saying that the old EAs and Indicators will still run and there is no problem at all (or else MQL is softening their approach).

I don't suppose one of the brighter members here could supply a translation of the gobbledygook in the post Tommaso just linked, please? I haven't a clue what the cretins are wittering about.

Seems like that the Metacrappers are retracing their steps and are now trying to ensure that the latest update will still execute old ex4 files. I understand the gobbledygook in Tommaso's post as bug fixing (still numerous problems including problems with offline charts) of the latest Build, which was 578 last time I checked.

Metacrappers also seem to have gone into the offensive trying to assert everyone that their masked MT5 under the old name of Empty4 is still fully functional with old ex4 files (keep your old platforms for compiling and don't go online with them).

I elevated FinFx's lousy response to my questions to higher management and below is what I got back from them.

"The official statement by MetaQuotes is that old EA’s will work in the new build. In the website you linked they clearly also state:

“No automatic re-compilation of the old EX4 files to the new version is performed during the update. Users are free to decide what source codes should be compiled to the new EX4 version. All old EX4 will work in the new Empty4 4 terminal. EX4 libraries compiled by the new compiler can be called only from the EX4 programs that have also been compiled in the new version.”

We also received the MetaQuotes newsletter stating the following:

“That has caused concern among traders about operability of the older versions of trading robots and custom indicators. We want to assure everyone that old EX4 files will work the same way as before. The update has brought the new functions, while the older ones have remained intact. In order to maintain compatibility, the runtime environment copy of the previous MQL4 version has been implemented providing operability of all older EX4 files.”

The cretins are saying that indicators and expert exe files compiled using build 509( the current version) will work with the new version.

However, this was immediately shown to be wrong.
Basically, the following type of code are likely not to work properly

code which reads or writes to experts\file
anything using offline charts
