Upcoming Empty4 4 and MQL4 Upgrades

I said a few posts back that all my vital files were loaded and working fine on build 579....and that was correct up until about 2 hours ago when I suddenly discovered that one of them, an mtf indicator, had stopped working!!! I soon learnt that a new build was up and running with fresh specifications. Lo and behold, on checking my platform build, it had been upgraded to 583!!! Now if that is not sheer madness, then tell me what is.

Apparently, MQ has decided that MTF indicators from 509 are no longer welcome in their plans and have, what do you know, gone straight off, not just to implement it but to force an immediate upgrade of existing live platforms.

It appears to be such a haphazard process as no serious-minded person would want to deal with, and carried on with such blatant disregard of users it borders on contempt. No doubt, a serious exploration of an alternative platform is now overdue.

Sorry to keep banging on about GP, but they really are totally fantastic. Until you have traded with them, you have no idea how good a genuine broker is as opposed to the usual run of market-making-in-it-for-themselves-only. It is no accident that GP is my Official Broker.

Unbelievable - I was thinking the same. The reality is most decent indicators have some kind of MTF ability - now we are back to the dark ages. I am so p1ssed off with these w@nkers they are screwing with my livelihood.

I am fully aware of this GP's provision, Steve, and have thought it absolutely exemplary as one sees other brokers sitting by and simply passing on to their clients whatever MQ pushes out. But for the long term, these changes ARE going to have to be enforced as the price feeds for 509 are eventually switched off by all brokers. What then?

As for GP's virtues as a broker, there's no gain-saying it. Just this past week, their prices remained rock stable whilst there were such crazy price spikes with Alpari UK during FOMC (or was it the RBNZ Rate Statement), some up to 500 pips (NZDJPY), EURNZD up to 200 pips and so on. There's no telling what damage these would have done to the accounts of countless traders. Somehow, GBPNZD, the only trade I had running at the time, was unaffected. I just counted myself LUCKY.

And the most amazing part of it all is that by the following day, all evidence of these spikes would have been wiped away (or so they think) because you will find that the affected price bars have been reconfigured to conceal what happened!!! What they don't seem to realize is that, for anyone who records his trades, they can always be played back to show the whole scenario as it unfolded.

A couple of months back, I had to confront them with just such an evidence regarding an issue, and of course, they gave some cock-and-bull story about how a widening of spreads was "due to some problems we had" and how thereafter, they have to ensure that the correct prices are stored away for posterity - can you just imagine!!!

So, there's everything to recommend GP, as you've repeatedly said, and I'm in the course of a switch.

And yes, GP will eventually have to roll out the new version of Empty4. What they are doing is hanging on until the damn thing shows itself to be reasonably stable. They will know it is reasonably stable when victims of different brokers stop complaining about it quite as much as they are going to be from Monday. Of course, CrapperQuotes might surprise us with a seamless change that leaves everything we have running smoothly - anyone here daft enough to put a fiver on it?

My crims have not updated yet. How many are seeing the new build on live accounts?

My crims have not updated either, and they responded to my concerns that they will wait to make sure it runs smoothly before updating. Keep complaining with your crims if anything does not work, it helps all of us.

Nothing here either. GP we already knew about as Jem is on record here as not allowing the downgrade until it proves to be stable.

Nothing on my Cowboy IBFX Aussie account either. I would love to think that the criminals (GP firmly left out of that of that description) have told CrapperQuotes to shove their downgrade up their arses because it will leave most of them without clients sending out trades that they can interfere with. More likely is that the titwits at CQ have delayed the downgrade.

Ok, crims, we know you read this stuff here. Here is a challenge. Step forward and state that you represent such and such a dimwit criminal and refused those cowboys at CQ today, and will continue to do so. It gives you a tiny chance to regain some semblance of a reputation here. Said tiny chance will only stand for anything if you continue to act in your 'clients' best interests instead of against them, but your world is changing around you. Adapt and survive or go under; the choice is yours.

Not that I really care what happens to you, of course. I am a very happy GP bunny. Just making the point on behalf of my pals in the US.
