Rsi in between these two numbers: market is ranging.
Thinking further on this...perhaps we could have the option to turn this function on/off so we could test with & without trend identification :?:[/quote]

Yes.

I am not rushing into coding this. Instead, I am giving a lot of thought to the code structure. If this is tight, clean and clear, it is easy to add new trading methods to the same EA. I have the structure mapped out in my head; I am just giving it a while to settle down.

Read the effing manual, ok?

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Not a problem Steve...no rush, take your time :D
It's taking me time to work backwards and forwards through his charts where most of the notes are and I'm trying not to miss anything either.

He also seems to use Fib levels as well to confirm entry, and there are some MA's on his charts too which he says the way he uses them is beyond the scope of the thread. He does post which MA's he uses so I will go find that post again and post it here as well.

Here are some charts of potential setups (we will need to wait until close of candle for confirmation)

AUDUSD
1. We are in an uptrend
2. Current bar totally encompasses the previous bar and looking likely to have a higher close
3. Look to take a buy trade at open of next candle (if entry is confirmed)

Before moving on to the next pattern James16 teaches (Pin Bars), I have gone over the charts and identified setups for the 3 patterns we are currently analysing.

Also, J16 has started to show charts with Fib lines and suggests that trades are taken on the retrace back to a fib line in order to enter at a better position. On the next few charts posted I have made comments about any setups that have occurred and results of trades if they were taken with and without using Fibs so we can get a better idea of any advantages of using Fibs.

For the purpose of the exercise, I am not worrying about TP or SL, just identifying how far a trade may have gone. Also I am ignoring Trend (as defined by the MTF RSI indicator) as it's a little difficult to be accurate on this with older trades.

J16 is saying if price doesn't retrace, he doesn't take the trade and waits for the next set up. (I have allowed a 5 pip buffer of the fibs where trades could be taken)
In the setups I have posted (which cover February) all trades taken at the open of the candle, except 1 were successful (this trade would have been successful if taken on the retrace), with quite a number of trades not being taken if we did wait for the retrace.

I am happy for any comments to be made about my analysis, (please don't get to techno or I'll get :? ), and please point out if I have missed a set up or incorrectly identified a set up.
Also, I am not very experienced with Fibs, so I may well have completely screwed up the way they're drawn as well ;)

USDCHF - DBHLC

Does this set up qualify as a DBLHC? The two lows are a day apart, and then the trade takes off in the anticipated direction.

Results:
If trade taken at open of candle 1st March 0.90439 - price has moved +104 pips
If trade taken on retrace to 23.6 Fib 0.90202 - price has moved +132 pips

GBPUSD - BOVB

This buy trade was taken by the EA at the open of the candle @ 1.59033 - price went + 88 pips

FIBS - Price didn't retrace to a fib, so no trade would have been taken

EURUSD - DBHLC

Similar to the usdchf trade, does this qualify as a DBHLC? Set up is 2 candles apart.

If set up is valid, sell trade taken at open of next candle 1.33222 price went + 138 pips

FIBS: Price didn't retrace to a fib, so no trade taken
