Empty4 keeps dropping itself

Sorry for the ambiguous title.

I'm running Entropy with a FinFX demo, recommended by Bluto. Empty4 v610. I get the whole thing set up, desired pairs, the bot, the signal assistant, etc. Works fine, taking trades, etc. For whatever reason, I may have to shut down Empty4, then re-open it.

When I re-open, it opens into a new account and all my previous setup is lost. When it happened this morning, only two charts were open, and all the EAs, indys and scripts had vanished, again. This has happened several times this week. I tried saving a profile, but it also disappears into the void.

I tried logging into the desired account, but no joy. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong? This just started this week, it seemed to be behaving itself the last previous couple of weeks.

It ain't easy being me.

in what folder you did install the Empty4?

It's in E:\Empty4\#FinFX-Entropy

Same as another demo that is working. I have a smaller SSHD that I use for the basic Windows stuff, then the larger E:\ drive for most other programs. Been doing this for a couple of years.

What I am finding is that the entire Entropy thingy is a huge resource hog. When I run my lappy without E (and we are not talking an ancient lappy here) all is well. As soon as I load the latest E, the cpu nearly explodes and the heat protection cuts in and shuts down my machine. I have this coolant pad to deal with the problem, but it works like hell to keep thingies going.

Maybe you have a similar problem, or a prob caused by the memory hogging propensity of E? Craig has always said that we will need a machine dedicated to running E, so maybe we are abusing our systems?

Just a couple of thoughts for you - no idea if you and I are experiencing the same provs.

Success!

Tommaso led me in the right direction.

I vaguely remembered I saw somewhere that v600+ required being in the c:\ drive. For years I had the v500 versions stored in my E:\ drive - no problem. The last couple of weeks I tried installing new demos in E:\ (just forgot) and had all sorts of trouble but didn't tie the two together.

Re-installed in C:\ and it appears that issue has been resolved.

Steve, I see what you mean about it being a resource hog.

When I opened my two instances of Entropy this afternoon, I went to Tools>Options>Charts and changed Max bars in both History and Charts, to 5,000. Seems to have reduced CPU stress over my default settings from last week. I seem to recall Craig saying that a lot of history wasn't required.

My setting is around 90 or 100 bars.
To the best of my understanding, no bars are required since there is no need to actually look into the past.
