The issue i'm seeing is clear on the 1H chart. Its been ranging now for the past 4 days. The daily shows it sitting on the yellow support line.

The monthly STO is down, the last fractal is up.

I'm happy to sit it out...

Weekly CSS

Post by Gertje »

After reading Bob's latest explanation of the CSS, finally the lightbulb in my head went on....
Before I pictured the slope of the currency being the indication for stronger/ weaker currency, but now I get it, the one above is stronger than the one below.....

Took the WEEKLY CSS from the info-page [24 pairs] and only set to show the GBP and USD on it, while weighing ALL currencies [show only symbols on chart = true]. I got the following;
gbpusdfweekly.png
Notice that after the green line mid july 2013 the GBP is above USD the whole time.

Then I took the DAILY chart from GBPUSD, and looked for the same date curious what I would see;
gbpusdfdaily.png
What happend after the green line on this one? THE PRICE ONLY WENT UP for some 2.000 pips, and will probably keep climbing untill the USD crosses the GBP on the weekly CSS.

This can be seen on nearly every pair/ chart combination.
One can play buy and hold, buy the rally's and sell the dips or whatever, and never experience any DD again. Add positions along the way, increasing lotsize to keep up with equity growth, only to TP when the lines cross again. And the good part, then the game begins again, in the opposite direction!

Of course this is all theoratical, and for sure I'm not going to bet my house on it. Just a little part if it to start with....

Good post Gertje thanks. One thing I have found strange with CSS is that it seems to work a little differently with D1 Vs lower timeframes. I know logically that makes no sense BUT on H4 I look for lines to be divergent OR convergent and that seems to work well. With D1, as you highlighted, the relative value seems to be very much more important.

I think this has a kind of logic as the D1 CSS is less reactive than the lower tf CSS, so in lower tf you have more noise, but sure the possibility to catch a trend change earlier.. so best imo is the combinated CSS showing H4 and D1

Cheers :)

10.9 DAILY/WEEKLY TRADES ONLY

Post by liberty55 »

Hi at all, big thank at all the persons to contribuate for this strategy. Finaly, I think to find what I need for me ( work all the day ( 7h00 to 17h00) in Montréal).
I have some questions :

1. how much time do you spend to see yous charts with a daily startegy?? Do you think if we have a particular time to analyse the charts ( end of the day ex.) or you drive only with the warning alerts from the indics????

question for Gertje: in the case of milipede building, do you use a taling to protect the fiirst trades that the market has tooked???
don you use pending orders???

this morning, with some mistakes on the gold chart, with lot size egal to 0.03 ( nano lot) I closed a partial position with a gain around 4%...

have a good day at all

Salutation from Montréal

Jean-Pierre

Hi Jean Pierre,

I think that if my latest findings become true, one needs to look at the charts once a day, maybe even 2-3 times a week.

I do use pendings, a lot I can say.
Don't use trailing stop [yet] as I don't see the need for it. I exit when I want to exit, not due to a price taking my stop out.

It's still early days, I'll keep updating on my findings here, but seeing the pace of these charts it can take a while before the strategy is proven profitable.

Gertje,
I read some time ago an explanation about CSS: the DIFFERENCE between the currencies is important, not their relative position above/below the zero line. Tomasso the Great modified an indi that shows the difference. See the attachment, how exact it replicates the strenght of the currencies. I attach the indi, enjoy it!
