Tommaso and Bob,

I made some setting changes in the indicator and saved it as a 5 min indicator.

Code: Select all

extern bool ShowCounterTrend=true;//gives too CT alerts
extern bool ShowDaily2_1=true;//setting this to true the indicator shows to the D1 2.1.1 Stoch
//extern bool UseD1StochforAlert=true;// setting this to true the indicator uses D1 2.1.1 Stoch in combination with 7.2.2 you must set UseW1StochforAlert to false
//extern bool UseW1StochforAlert=false;// setting this to true the indicator uses W1 2.1.1 Stoch in combination with 7.2.2 you must set UseD1StochforAlert to false
extern bool UseOnly7_2forEntryAlert=false;// this setting will only use the Stoch 7.2.2 for the enrty alerts the HigherTF Stoch 2.1.1 is not used independend from the above setting
extern bool PopupAlert=true; // ALERTS WHEN WHENEVER PRICE GOES BELOW 90&70 AND ABOVE 10&30 AND HT STOCH CONFIRMS
extern bool      EmailAlert= false;
extern bool      PushAlert=false;
extern bool GiveStoch2_1_ExitAlerts=false;//set this to false if you have set ShowCounterTrend to true, because it will give you an immediatly exit alert in that case
extern bool GiveStoch7ExitAlerts=true;//gives Stoch 7.2.2 exits alerts for BUY if we have Stoch 7.2.2 >=90 and for SELL if we have Stoch 7.2.2<=10
extern bool    GiveTMASlopeExitAlert=true;
int     HigherTF_Used           = 60;
int     HigherTF2_Used          =240;
extern string  Set_Stoch_Alert_Levels="Default = 20, 40, 60, 80";
extern int     LevelOne=25;                                    // default = 20
extern int     LevelTwo                = 25; //CHANGE TO 10 IF YOU ONLY WANT 1 ALERT // default = 40
extern int     LevelThree              = 75; //CHANGE TO 90 IF YOU ONLY WANT 1 ALERT // default = 60
extern int     LevelFour=75;                                    // default = 80

extern string  Stoch_Settings="Default = 7, 2, 2, 2, 1";

extern int   KPeriod                     = 12;
extern int   DPeriod                     = 2;
extern int   Slowing=5;
What it looks like ...
euraudmm5_setting.png
Will be testing these settings. Might add a Divergence indicator to the chart. Very clear divergence with this setting. Could make for a nice filter.

Next post the 15 min

Doug :)

So here is the 15 min changes.

Code: Select all

extern bool ShowCounterTrend=true;//gives too CT alerts
extern bool ShowDaily2_1=true;//setting this to true the indicator shows to the D1 2.1.1 Stoch
extern bool UseD1StochforAlert=true;// setting this to true the indicator uses D1 2.1.1 Stoch in combination with 7.2.2 you must set UseW1StochforAlert to false
extern bool UseW1StochforAlert=false;// setting this to true the indicator uses W1 2.1.1 Stoch in combination with 7.2.2 you must set UseD1StochforAlert to false
extern bool UseOnly7_2forEntryAlert=false;// this setting will only use the Stoch 7.2.2 for the enrty alerts the HigherTF Stoch 2.1.1 is not used independend from the above setting
extern bool PopupAlert=true; // ALERTS WHEN WHENEVER PRICE GOES BELOW 90&70 AND ABOVE 10&30 AND HT STOCH CONFIRMS
extern bool      EmailAlert= false;
extern bool      PushAlert=false;
extern bool GiveStoch2_1_ExitAlerts=false;//set this to false if you have set ShowCounterTrend to true, because it will give you an immediatly exit alert in that case
extern bool GiveStoch7ExitAlerts=true;//gives Stoch 7.2.2 exits alerts for BUY if we have Stoch 7.2.2 >=90 and for SELL if we have Stoch 7.2.2<=10
extern bool    GiveTMASlopeExitAlert=true;
int     HigherTF_Used           = 240;
int     HigherTF2_Used          =1440;
extern string  Set_Stoch_Alert_Levels="Default = 20, 40, 60, 80";
extern int     LevelOne=25;                                    // default = 20
extern int     LevelTwo                = 25; //CHANGE TO 10 IF YOU ONLY WANT 1 ALERT // default = 40
extern int     LevelThree              = 75; //CHANGE TO 90 IF YOU ONLY WANT 1 ALERT // default = 60
extern int     LevelFour=75;                                    // default = 80

extern string  Stoch_Settings="Default = 7, 2, 2, 2, 1";

extern int   KPeriod                     = 9;
extern int   DPeriod                     = 2;
extern int   Slowing=5;
Example of these settings.

So I will be testing now with these setting and fine tuning some more possibly but they seem close to being workable.

Cheers,
Doug

The only thing I found curious was these 2 lines of code you had blocked out. I activated them on the 15 min thinking they might help me with entries since I do have a 1440 setting on the higher time frame. Have no clue if it will help. I do not know if it would have any benefit on the 5 min so I left it out.

Code: Select all

extern bool UseD1StochforAlert=true;// setting this to true the indicator uses D1 2.1.1 Stoch in combination with 7.2.2 you must set UseW1StochforAlert to false
extern bool UseW1StochforAlert=false;// setting this to true the indicator uses W1 2.1.1 Stoch in combination with 7.2.2 you must set UseD1StochforAlert to false
The rest I think I understand well. Bravo on the notes. Really helped in understanding a few things I was unaware of.

Cheers,
Doug :)

It is set in the version for 10.7 standart to use both, so no need for this two inputs.., they are used in the 10.9 version.. which is slightly different..

It's an interesting idea... look forward to seeing where this takes us as it develops.

At the moment I find it a bit confusing with the array of colours & meanings. Maybe some arrows might help?
or some indicators as to when different timeframes line up (if that could be important?).
You can change colors on what you like and I don't know how arrows would help, it would just be doubling the same informations. Maybe I understood you wrong.

Colors are:

Code: Select all

extern color UpStrongColor = Lime; //Color when currency is moving strongly up
extern color UpWeakColor = Green; //Color when currency is going weakly up
extern color FlatColor = SkyBlue; //Color when currency is going flat
extern color DownWeakColor = Tomato; //Color when currency is going weakly down
extern color DownStrongColor = Red; //Color when currency is moving strongly down
FlatColor is set to currency when difference of current slope value and past slope value is lower than FlatRange that you can set.

WeakColor is set to currency when difference of current slope value and past slope value is lower than StrongParametr that you can set and currency is not flat.

I will definitely add alert when timeframes are starting to have same direction since it is probably the best moment to enter that I can gain from this indicator.
I can see when you've fixed the currency names in order (for comparison across tf), but then we lose easy sight of strongest/weakest currencies we had when they were ordered by value. Tricky.
Yes, it is tricky. I was thinking about some kind of sorting but for now I don't know how it would work. If I sort every TF separately we will lose easy comparison, if I will sort only main tf and set others to that sorting it will has sense only for first chart.
You could certainly remove the redundant currency names if they stay in that fixed order. Don't need four "USD" literals.
Will do.
Maybe some other indicator to show value strength for easy eyeballing. A range of diff' sized red/green circles?
Circles are now used to see what currency is soversold or overbought on what TF. For now there are three values of strenght, flat, weak and strong, you can see distinguish them by colour. I can simply add more values but this is stupid method. I will think about it but any advice is good :P
Not sure how to use it in live trading yet, but I'm sure there is something in strong css values/slopes on H4 & D1, and weak on H1/M15 i.e. pullback in trend.

But I like it. Thanks.

Cheers
Padnoter
Main purpose is to know when currencies are ending there retracment and enter in that moment (or in near future later) and to know what TFs are dangerous (when currency is going strongly, when it is over OverSold or OverBought line, I would not trade in that direction or even I would seek retracment trade).

I am happy that you like it, it is very supportive for me :)
Thanks for advices.

imo, for those who think CSS reading can be automated...
Try running the CSS indicator on a few pairs with the option of showOnlySymbol on chart.
Try to backtest your CSS reading logic a few months back and see if it can be automated with simple rules.
Backtesting is one thing, the other thing is you have to see how much the CSS indicator varies in live situation.

If after testing out all the above stuff, and you have found reliable rules to automate the reading of CSS...

Totally agree with that thought SpiderX ...

I tried two times in my systems to use CSS on a pair as part of a manual entry and exit tool. Exits were impossible and entries made difficult by a lack of being able to determine a threshold that would work consistently in every time period. I gave up on entries switching to a stochastic when I realized that the only time periods I could get consistent entries on was the four hour. Than Bobs 10.7 indicator came out and it was an easy move from the stochastic to his super stochastic. CSS is fabulous as an analysis tool just not as a market timing indicator. :)

Cheers,
Doug
I totally agree... CSS is a great guide but a lousy timing tool. You should keep it out of the dashboard...

True, better to use the actual TMA-channel for that to see where price is between the lines.

Spider, As it stands right now, The dashboard shows a pair as Yellow when the Wk, D and D Sto arrow are aligned. Could we change the Yellow to:

Green Pair: WK, D and D Sto arrow are all Lime.

FireBrick Pair: WK, D and D Sto arrow are all Red.

This would help by showing the direction of the potential trade.

In this way, Green will turn to Lime when the selected Sto TF drops below the threshhold chosen (20) and, viceversa, FireBrick will turn Red when the selected Sto TF climbs above the selected threshold (80).

Thanks again.
