I've coded like 10 different strategies and from them one seems productive in EURUSD using low spreads like an ECN. I wish this strategy worked the same way in GBPUSD and USDJPY but it just makes break even there. Maybe I haven't fine tuned it properly for those pairs.
Anyway, this strategy is a very simple one based on a couple of moving averages on D1. I've realized that my strategies use quite often moving averages. What else can I try?
Yesterday I started reading a book (300 pages) on bollinger bands, maybe a bit rubbish, half way through and it hasn't talked seriously about BB (I hope second half improves).
I know that the core of an EA has to be simple. Then you can add money management, trailing stops and other things to improve performance.
What else I could try apart from moving averages? What other indicators are simple and effective for an EA? I've read about Price Action and some candle patterns. There are some patterns that are simple to code (pinbar, engulfing pattern...) but the complex part is to add the context of where the pattern is happening.
In my TO-LEARN list I have to learn how to detect properly support and resistance areas. I know some people are on that path.
Anyway. This is my first post here. Nice forum with activity. I hope I can make my way in EA coding and stay here for long.
