Thank you

There are two kinds of indicators. One which are fixed and ones which move with price action. For example S/R, Pivots, Fibs, etc. will set lines and stay put until you move them for some reason. Pivots can be set for the day, week, or month.

Others will move with price action like moving averages. The bigger the number the less they will move. Price moves up they move up, price moves down they move down.

Some indis that move will keep their past history lines moving also. So as present price moves up or down the lines in the past will also move with price action so a line will not be where it was a week later. In the case of the TMA it tries to keep its lines centered with price so its lines will move so the indi always looks centered. This makes the indi look great but its past is not accurate. To prevent this there is a ignore function so when a bar closes the line is fixed and wont move with future movement. Hence the ignore future option.

To help solve this problem several years ago I took a standard TMA that moved with price action and tried to come up with numbers where a fixed TMA would stay in side those lines of a moving TMA almost all the time. (Very strong volatility cant be done with this idea but that kind of volatility is rare). This lead to a fairly accurate TMA which we now use since 10.2. The present CSS I use, uses these numbers and I consider them quite reliable except for very wild moves.

So ignore future is only helpful for backtesting the system but both are the same in real time. In reality if my numbers are being used they should be close anyways. Also the higher the TF the less and less this movement affects the indicator. In other words on a daily chart the line movement is so small or so far in the future it doesnt mean anything. On lower TF charts it can be significant but I dont trade lower chart very often. Anyway that is how it works.

CSS is a comparison indi. What would you be comparing the prices with? In other words there is no USD/XAU and EUR/XAU and NZD/XAU to collect info from and have a line. Euro line is a comparison line of all 6 Euro crosses. There is one gold price and it is priced in USD. Gold is not a currency, it is a metal.

ok, Gold is a metal and there are many elements impacting on it's strength, one of them is the strength of the USD. By CSS the USD Strength is seen in relation to other currencies . This gives us, even if it is only a small view, some information on the gold-strength. (The slopeValues of XAUUSD have been very informative.) Mike

CAD still on top showing some resilience. Will be interesting to see if it stays there another week. I am still playing CAD strong gbp/cad, eur/cad, and cad/jpy and that lead to some nice pips on those three.
EUR even thought the euro was on the bottom most of that came on its drop against the USD. The rest were kind of so so to nothing.

CAD did show strength all week and if you waited you could find some trades on every CAD. I did very well all week with the gbp/cad and eur/cad. cad/jpy the move was short and at the beginning. So did well there.

GBP moved back to the middle where it likes to hide. I promoted a gbp/usd sell early in the week and it went nowhere and then up. Ended up closing it with a 2nd trade for a small profit on the second trade which wiped out my original trade. Just got in too early for that USD strength move. I made some nice profit on the gbp/jpy move which actually was the opposite of the CSS read but you wont catch me buying the JPY.

gbp/usd ended up happening this week and caught the drop. I was pleased with the result even though the previous week it was a bad entrance.

Emperor K is getting tons of pressure to not let the JPY appreciate much more, so when he steps in I expect to see some nice moves there. The news story earlier in the week probably was the start so ........... can they overcome the fact of China economy slowing down which makes people buy the YEN for safety. I find this curious that the nation with the most debt ratio to GDP (240%) is considered a safety currency. Some things still do not compute with me but USA is at 107% and doom and gloom are all over the internet. I dont believe their crap at this time. Yes we need to make some structural changes but doom and gloom are not here. Yes those who are predicting an economic collapse this summer are full of HUUUEEEY. (My dad used to say that and have no idea where it came from. Today it means SH>>>>>>>>)

jpy continued to hang in their tough most of the week until the BOJ announced it was upping its stake in the bond program starting June 2. However their sales wont be announced in advance so they will just happen. Be on the lookout for fakeouts and then jpy sells. I made some good pips Friday looking for the JPY to weaken after the news story. Anyway jpy crossed down from the usd and crosses above and below 20 line usually do very well. Will sell jpy against usd and cad. The others I will look for better signals.

NZD.AUD these two are buddies and its good to see them moving together again. They have switched places with the NZD going first and the AUD following so when I see the NZD start moving up again, I will look to buy the AUD. As I have said before the aud, nzd usually move in opposite directions with the JPY. So I will look for JPY to weaken along with aud nzd strength when it happens. Right now its not there yet but we will look for it. RIght now JPY bond sales are flat with the BOJ being the only buyer. So the bank sells money to increase the money supply, to increase inflation, to kick start the economy again, but it is the only buyer of the bonds. ?????????????????? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Japnan population is aging and they want to cash in their bonds not buy more sooooooooooooooooo anyone want to buy a JPY bond?????

I didnt do much with either the aud or nzd. Missed the nzd drop but dont think that will last long. I will be looking for aud and nzd to strengthen as the month of June goes buy but for now nzd is diving. so nzd/usd sell early and watch for a reversal at some point.

USD go go go go go finally all those predictions of USD strengthening, is it finally happening??????????? I wouldnt bet the house on it but I will look for re-tracements this week and buy into USD strength. I cant remember the USD being on top this year but it could have been for a short time.

USD was not go go go but kinda flat all week. It moved up strength wise but not volatile wise. Just some minor winners there.

SO still looking at CAD and USD buys, you can try JPY if you want but Idont buy JPY.
EURO sells, how far will this one go down??
aud, nzd sells until NZD crosses over the AUD and then I plan on investing heavily on nzd and aud buys. Going for that positive swap. Then I will sell the JPY with them.

Attached is the new CSS without CHF V.3.5 I will be testing. I already like because it works on weekends, so what ever bug was in it, it is now fixed. It should also give warning alerts for crossing pairs and crossing the 20./-20. Good luck.
This was my last week of school so was busy. Did some trading but not much. Slow week pretty much across the board but did do well with gbp/cad and gbp/usd but that was about it.

Bank Holidays last week seemed to put a muzzle on the market but that's life.

This week looking at fundamental news. BOJ announcing its increasing its sales in June should push the JPY lower across the board but its not saying when only that there will be 8-10 sales during the month. The interesting thing about this is the BOJ seems to be the only buyer at this point. So if you understand sell bonds and then buying them to put more currency into play then you got it. At least the USA is buying bad mortgage loans every month withe hopes that some day they could become valuable property. How strong is the real question.

USD and CAD still on top and probably will stay there. GBP in the middle with the aud. The aud did not go down with the nzd soooooooooo will it or ???????????

I read the eur and chf as one line now and they are on the bottom. News stories of how the euro will decide to join the depreciation party. If they do it will continue to stay on the bottom, if they dont expect it to rise dramatically as the euro bulls will come out in force. Anyway Thursday is the news day for the euro so I would expect it to be flat this week while it waits for Thurs. news

The FT is out with an article citing senior ECB officials on what the central bank will do at Thursday’s meeting. Senior ECB officials have hinted that they will also present measures to tackle the plight of the eurozone’s struggling SMEs to counter what ECB president Mario Draghi this week dubbed a “pernicious negative spiral” of low inflation and tight borrowing constraints.Jens Weidmann, Bundesbank president, is planning to support the ECB’s proposal to ease constraints on smaller businesses in more troubled parts of the currency bloc,

So I will be looking for usd, cad, buys against all others. If JPY starts to sink I will go with JPY sells and AUD and NZD buys. GBP plodding in the middle so put the TMA on the chart and sell high and buy low.

Mike you should simply use the TMA-Slope for XAU or XAG that will give you the information you want..

is there a way to add Currencies to the CSS indi?

Post by AnGri »

Hi,

i'd like to add some currencies to the CSS indi (MXN, TRY, RUB, DKK, NOK, SEK, CNH).

Is there an easy way for a non-coder to achieve this?

Like for instance copying & pasting some lines in the mq4?
May the Pips be with You :!:

this would only make sense if you have more than one or two pair combination for this "exotics" offered from your broker if you go through the code you can find out how too add a new currency, just look how the exitent ones are coded..change

Code: Select all

#property indicator_buffers 8
the 8 to the number ofcurrencies with the new ones, and the same for

Code: Select all

#define CURRENCYCOUNT      8
ecc....

Cheers :)
