On a demo account, with two EA running :
EA1 : Trigger day is 7, profit is at 50%; So far, 6 trades have reached their target, banking 670 pips, the floating P/L is around -240 pips.
EA2 : Will trigger on day 15 with profit target a 33%.
I'll try to run another account with a very large profit target, like 500% of average, so it only closes at end of month.

Got a demo opened for this too.
Got it setup to open trades on day 7 and 45% TP. So far, 10 trades hit TP with a total of 995.80 pips. Floating P/L at -448 pips. I am still using v1a version of this EA.
Can I remove the EA and change it with v1c while there trades open still?

For me, I really think the basket approach may work best, and the option I'm looking forward to seeing in action properly...unfortunately due to my inability to perform basic mathematics my demo that I set up for Day 7 closed immediately, as it did for Day 8SteveHopwood » Fri Jun 13, 2014 8:34 am wrote:Interesting times on my live Cowboy Cowboy IBFX account.
So far, 10 trades closed at their 33% tp. Up until earlier today, closed upl always trailed dd by about 50 pips or so. At the mo, closed upl is leading dd by about 130 pips, and has led dd for most of the day.
Given that I do not want to close out at my realised profit so far, the success or otherwise of the trading this month now largely depends on what happens to the current losers. If they turn around, then great. If not, then oops.
So maybe this throws another question into the mix. When x trades have closed in profit, and the overall position is in profit, should we then close the entire position?
Don't know the answer. The trade simulator based its results on allowing trades to run until either tp or the end of the month, so I am going to allow my live trades to follow to the same conclusion. Don't repeat this on your $50,000 pension fund account guys. I can afford to blow my account. Again. You cannot.
Using the trade analyser, the average Pips High over the last 24 months is 631 with the average Pips Low being 68. Overall the average closed pips was 282 based on closing at the end of the month.
Armed with this information, I have set MPBM with an adaptive TP of 250 pips on 21 pairs, no SL or BE. Just going to let it run, close at TP or end of the month, whichever occurs first.
IMHO, this should allow the pairs that have a large range eg. gbpnzd, eurnzd, gpbjpy etc (they all average over 400 pips per month) balance out the pairs with the smaller range and achieve an adaptive TP. That would be 5250 pips
My other 2 demo's results are:
Demo 1: Using 50% TP - closed +880 pips, currently -84 pips
Demo 3: Using individual TP - closed +658 pips, currrently +107 pips

Using OAD/OAW for scale-ins
Hey Steve,
I've been following the evolution of your Once Upon A Timeframe EA's, and, as usual, I'm seeing great work
For the past couple of years, I have been trying to code a multi-timeframe approach to trade management so that I can enter trades on the M1, and eventually manage them on the MN1. To achieve this, I have arrays for each timeframe... When a trade on the M1 is confirmed, I store the ticket number in an array, and once the M1 jumping stop has been triggered a couple of times, I move that ticket number to another array, ready for the M5 to manage the trade according to its settings (and on, up to the MN1). It's kinda fun to watch such a low-risk entry (10 to 20 pips SL) move up through the timeframes until it's stopped out for 600 pips, (not all trades get that far, though
).
So, what does this have to with OAM? Well, I'm thinking about the merging of OAD & OAW into OAM, but am not sure which way to go. We could...
1. Have OAD & OAW wait until OAM determines direction before they're allowed to enter trades, so that they're only taking scale-in trades for the rest of the month. Or,
2. Have OAD trade as usual, until OAW determines direction. OAD will then only trade in the weekly direction (with the trades managed according to OAW settings) until OAM sets its direction, at which time OAM closes opposite direction trades, and takes over management of the remaining open trades, with OAD & OAW adding trades in the monthly direction, and passing them on to the monthly for management. Or,
3. Have OAD and OAW trade according to their own signals, but pass trades up through the timeframes when their directions match.
I'm currently working on modifying the monthly analysis indicator and OAM trade simulator to work on the weekly (then the daily), so that I can find the right settings (and work out how to put it all together), but it's slow going for me (whilst you're playing piano concertos with ease, I'm still struggling with the first bar of chopsticks), so I thought I'd put the idea out there for better eyes and minds to play with.
Take care,
&
Have fun!

Radar, these are great ideas. Let me know if you have any difficulty adapting the OAM code to your ea's and I will see if I can help.

How is it going for you guys?
Progress so far on my live Cowboy IBFX play account, start day 7:
iHistory: Open trades: Closed trades: The gap between the realised profits and dd has gradually expanded in my favour as the winners have hit tp, and is now c. +350. I am opening my second basket tomorrow. I shall use a second instance of the bot with a different magic number and a trade comment. The current losers will become hedged, so it will be interesting to see how this all pans out at the end of the month.
Looking good for now.
