I tried trading with those averages once. They are so pretty you want to be looking at them all day but with all due respect they can not do the things the ribbons can ;)

I wish I could use Global Prime but the US does everything it can to crush the retail trader. Funny how many of these Wall Street thieves find their way into these regulatory agencies.

Cheers, :)

I have been looking at these exotic/major pairings for trading in the evening. The AUDHKD (HongKong) looks like a nice pair to trade. We only get 20:1 leverage on exotics in the US but the range on this pair is huge. The evening has been so dead at times lately and with lower volatility over all it is cool to look at the range of these pairs compared to the Majors. They are like GBPNZD on steroids. The spread while higher is not to bad during active trading hours with Oanda. They seem to be the only broker in the US to have every pair on the planet. Probably more choice outside the US.

This is not where I would start if I was talking to a newbie trader but for an experienced trader it is a nice alternative. I realized I have been overlooking some nice trading opportunities with these pairs.

Kino indicators

Post by slowkey »

Just a house keeping note. :)

The kino monitor and the kino scalping indicator seem to both have issues with Empty4 post v600 but what doen't :youknow: They seem to have memory and cpu issues. I have no source code for these indicators that can be updated so if you want pips to ribbons you can get that by using Radar's mod. He will be adding inputs to adjust better where the text shows up on the screen. The ribbons mod he did will do pips to ribbons all by its self but it needed these inputs to adjust the text. So the Pips to ribbons indicator can be used or the ribbon indicator actually can do the ribbons itself. The idea of having the GVS is a nice one because a new indicator could be produced to read the global variables which is demonstrated in the pips to ribbons indicator. For instance an indicator similar to kino's monitor. Just have the monitor read the global variables. That is what Radars pips to ribbons indicator demonstrates.

I use the grid a naturally to measure distances between ribbons. It is simple enough to do and it can be adjusted nicely in any pip arrangement. That allows me to use the constant colors which I have grown use to using. It just comes down to what works best to help you trade.

Cheers, :)

Hello!
If someone finds them useful, here are Kino's indicators found on the web and adapted to newest MQ4. Tested with Empty4 600+ and I haven't noticed any problems.
Regards!

Thanks Michael,

I will take a look at them. I just bought a new computer so I am rebuilding my trading platform you might say on this beautiful Dell 2350. Very sweet computer if you are looking for an all in one.

Cheers, :)

Sweet find, Michaeldz :)

I'll have a squizz at them, and modify them to work with the GV's that T3MA_ribbon_multi_with_gvs.mq4 creates, (gotta save CPU cycles and RAM somehow) ;)

Have fun!

Hi Slowkey

First I want to say a big thanks for sharing you r work and ideas on trading on the lower timeframes, really interesting.

I have a question aROUND THE STOCH Indicator. I am liking the 9-2-5 setting but want to ask you about the level that you use to trigger or confirm entry. I am thinking that the cross of the 50 lines actually signals that a move is on as opposed to ranging PA or head fake both of which are commonly associated with the cross of the 90-10 or the 70-30 lines. could you comment on this please. It is relevant to the higher time frames too I think.

The indicator is already slowed down a lot. It is for timing. The factors I would be looking at are two. What is the daily range of the pair and what is CSS saying. CSS is the most important factor right now with pairs having such narrow ranges. The other day I was seeing major pairs in a range of 30-40 pips. Under these conditions CSS becomes very important as you want to be trading with these conditions strong vs weak or news. Highly volatile pairs are rare to find and it is very difficult to trade narrow ranges without getting faked out which is the nature of any cycle indicator. A narrow 35 pips range or so on eurusd is only half of the normal trading range we used to see. Central bank policy is mostly dovish presently with low inflation numbers. Pairs seem to move more on news or with the yen to safe haven. You are better off trading higher time periods with CSS and news on narrow range days.

I would add a 3rd and 4th factor of volume and time of day. Trying to trade low volumes and outside of the London - USA session except with news is very difficult during narrow range days. A cycle indicator is only a timing indicator at best. It works best when there is volatility and a real trading opportunity on lower time periods. With higher time period it is more forgiving as there is so much more data. Indicators are just one element in a trade. Indicators are useful but loose significance if there is low volatility. The stochastic does not tell you if you have a trading opportunity. You must determine that based on many factors and once that is determined it can be very helpful for timing but has little predictive value in poor trading conditions. CSS offers more possibilities.
Cheers :)
