Re: Symphonie EA

Decided to give the 60 minute setup a clean account. Decided not to use any mtf setups on this account. I have a positive feeling about this setup. If successful on EURUSD i will see what other pairs can be added.
So will now turn my attention to the 60-5 and try to see what might help this setup. I want to see if we really need all those HTF signals to have success. There is a 12 to 1 relationship between these two time frames which even in a manual trading setup would be quite large. Having so many signals to have in agreement makes for a very complex setup for an EA. Although I do not think that is so much an issue for Evaluators system trading manually. But for an EA in every 1 hour candle we get 12 five minute candles. As I watched this in visual mode last evening it appeared not to really sync all that well. I just wonder if a 60-15 might be a more natural relationship. It gives you a 4:1 relationship between the time periods which is what is usually recommended as Ideal. The 15 minute would have a lot less noise. But first I am going to see what I can do to improve the 60-5. Easy enough to eliminate some of the decision code and take a look at it with out so many signals. But it is an enjoyable day here in Western MD USA and its time to breath fresh air.

Thanks Steve!SteveHopwood wrote: There is an input in the indi, alertsOption, that is intended to disable all alerts if set to 4, and it looks as though the coder has attempted to ensure that the code complied with your setting.
If this does not work, go through the code and comment out every line that contains the keyword 'Alert' then recompile. This should stop the alerts.

The 60-5 makes my head hurt. Looked at it every way but upside down George. However, the 60 and the 240 minute time periods with the rsi 1440 filter look worth the effort and I am going to get as many pairs running as I can. George I do not think that the rsi period need optimized. I think it is fine at 20. So that is what I am going to do. If they forward test as good as they look in the tester than will have something. I am going to optimize all the stops and take profits because I think this set up is very sensitive to each pairs volatility and daily range. Optimizing the BE seems to lower draw down. Of course this could all blow up in forward testing but my 60-5 is going no where but down. I really would like to find out if this EA can run well on the big time frames which are my favorite.

i like your thoughts here. I'm posting some links that i found very usefull, and you'll understand why i am trying to change some of the settings.
i particularly like RSI, i dont know why, i suspect because it's a clean input and is not prone to re-painting. STeve has kindly allowed us to use all options and we can experiment with this EA.
i also like the fact that by playing with the available settings we are not drifting from Eval's original system.
your test on 60-15 makes a lot of sense. it will be very very interesting to see the results. In the mean time, i'm going to look at the triggering values and report back here too. I'm looking to only get into the market in the right direction for a few pips, if the market runs, i want to be able to follow it with a trailing stop, but we all know the spikes will throw me out, but so long as we dont close at a loss. I will not be using any martingale or nanningbob methods here, just trying to stick to original symphonie and getting in following the right direction as described. if it go's the opposite way, i prefer the EA to close the position.
here are some links i found very intreresting;

this will take up some time if you start to follow on, but i'm also looking at MA methods and also the allaverages. Will follow up with you with some results, buyt have'nt implemented anything yet, so please be patient with me.
looking forward to your results,

Re: Symphonie EA
the question is, why will 60-5 and not 240-5 be traded? at the beginning it was recommenend to take trades in the direction of the 240 Heikin Ashi TF. Now it switches to 60 TF.
does 240-5 not so profitable. is 60-5 recommendend because 2-3 Members might have positive results.
maybe one should test this out if it is reliable too.
i think it is. the basis of MTF trading is Dow theory.

Hi Mediator.
thanks again for your Indi, i would gladly send those points if i had any to give on FF, makes no diffs to most of us, but i understand your prob after that RT's remarks.
for the purposes of testing, sure, we will be trying all options, and yours is a valid point. My tests on 60-5 were very fruitless , and could hardly be called results.
i have started getting everything together to set up myfxpage going so all can see the results. i have not hidden anything, as they are demo anyways, but will also add my live when i fund the damn thing, hahaha. the comment section will briefly describe my settings and what TF i used. I will gladly send anyone my set file and version of the EA if asked for it.
i will take on your point on 240-5 and maybe even throw in a few charts with different currencies and mix the times a bit too, just to get a feel of what we can expect.
on 60-5 , my trading was sooo boring, and hardly anything to talk about. i tried 1-15 instead of 15-1 , and had crap results too, but i still have to get to 15-1, i was miss-understanding Eval about which comes first. i thought he watched the 5 minute, but it was the other way around. Although we can try anything in any combo, i still think it's important to respect the work of Eval, as this is based on Symphonie, and it does belong to him.
it would be great to get to a point where he would endorse this EA, but we might find better results as he is checking up here on this thread and helping along. It was Eval who pointed us in the right direction in a few posts back. all results will help and Steve has even allowed, and will help to modify the EA from time to time. as you have seen, the EA has been changed already and i am not too comfy with the 4 bar thingy after the change of direction, so i changed mine to 2 bars and use both on different charts. Eval used 3 OR 4 , so ther'es no steady rule on this, but with his permission, he might find some solutions that work better , and he could guide us too, possibly bettering symphonie. This really is just at testing purposes, with the intention of going live, but respecting the work of Eval, and trying to stick to the real symphonie, other-wise, it cant be called syphonie. i knwo you know this, but adding for the benefit of others who might not understand, or never heard of symphonie before.
i am getting on the phone and emailing the guys at tech support for help with the 'read only' pass as some of my clients dont have one, so hopefully we can resolve this and get all the clients on myfxbook. i will post all the links as soon as i'm done, under all my posts. then you'll be able to compare your findings to mine and others.
regards and it's great reading your posts.

Hi slowkey,
great, i will avoid the allaverages, and MA settings (turn them to false) and this will help to direct myself more to rsi and the other available settings. take your time , from my side , i'm also battling to keep up. hehe.
i can tell you that so far , i'm getting a lot, and better quality positions taken by the EA on 5-5, method, hope this is not upsetting Eval, but will have the results live on my demo accounts soon on the myfxpage and will link from the bottom of my posts.
regards and stay well.

Re: Symphonie EA
Hi george,
i respect Eval too and he is the one who has results with signal-to-signal, 60-5, MTF with Heikin and different TF's too. So an EA should replicate this results if trading is only a mechanical thing.
is it really only mechanical? would this signal-to-signal ever work? no i don't think so.
the market is dynamic and the volatility changes all the time. you has an intraday volatility and a high TF vola. To take fix pips for SL, TP or BE is IMO too rigid. in high volatile times your trades will often be kicked because 30 Pip BE set is such a small move that it is within the noise. but at low volatile times it will only hit a few.
The same goes for the SL. At the moment 50 pip is the half of a daily range. Last year it was the quarter of daily range. this is really a large difference.
The EA in my opinion does not work as expected (not mean because of coding issues). the entries and exits are not like i do. this is because the extreme is not stable enough. i thing an usual Zig-Zag or semafor will work better.
or we use the comers extreme cycle which i do use.
if i have the time i would recode it and for HTF i would code switches to only use the trendline in HTF
Cheers
