Another Grid Trader!!

Post by HannesJoubert »

I am not entirely sure why this is happening, but I have picked up an anomaly with the EURJPY pair.

On two separate occasions now the EA has opened not one, but two trades, one after the other, at exactly the same level, all other pairs, the EA only opens one, as it should be...

Has anyone else experienced the same?

I can't vouch any satisfaction from Ricky's Sebgrid 1B and would highly recommend you use the version I just posted, re the 509 build as seems very stable so far. Also, Sebgrid1.5a only opens new trades after bar closed, but if you add the EA during a candle, then EA will load trade if previous candle was extreme. You should try on the tester if you don't understand as this shows it working as per rules etc.

On thinking about all the problems I have had so far with the so-called 'bugs' that have come about, I am thinking that they have all related to the newer builds 600+ that Metaquotes have forced on us, as running this bot before then (as in last year) I did not experience any problems, and therefore wanted to show off this EA for all to enjoy. After all the trouble I blame the build 600+ and metaquotes and HOPE everyone enjoys ewhat I have enjoyed in the past.

So, I say it again, use the EA from my previous post with the file name of Sebgrid1.5a.OOTB.build509. Sorry I have noticed one small error that I set up this with the lot multiplier set to 1.75, so for lower starting amounts (1500 etc) use the lot multiplier to 1.25.

Regards, Charles

Thanks for the reply, I'm going to use the SebGrid_v1.5 OOTB version.

I'm currently multiplier lot to 1:50, and from level 4, move to 1.25, depending on the currencies in use all majors and crosss, 28 :) The StepLots calculate as follows for each pair, 1/4 of the ADR, never being less than 10 or greater than 20.

HI Trader 689,
Yes should be fine on that higher start, as this EA does not load the trade station heavily like many grid martingale ea's.

Hi ruiflavius,
I am unsure how you think you are doing the 'step' function to the ATR, as this EA works off bar closed for new trade set-up, so setting the step lots to 10 will mean the EA won't place a trade before 10 pips, but as candle can be ANY range the step between trades is any range. This is the beauty of this EA VS others I have tried that this EA does not stack trades against the trend like typical grid EA's.

That is unless you have found a setting in this EA I have not seen yet, and that is possible. But why don't you set the step to 10 or 20 and leave it alone for a month or two, and observe how it works etc. This EA does not like people messing with it, as in, eg. changing settings mid series etc. As this stuffs up its workings and VERY BASIC error coding, which can't support this kind of 'messing with'. Maybe I should have said this as a general statement at the start of this whole EA's journey that this EA is very simple and does not like being messed with!!! Sure you get errors in closing and opening in the wrong places because this ea does not have the error messages to cope with all kinds of 'mess'.

Sorry to Ruiflavius for this message being maybe pointed at you not everyone else who likes to play with the settings then complain when they get EA doing not what it supposed to do, as this is simple EA, and place on chart and do not touch!!

HI Hannes Joubert,
Try this EA on tester to verify that this EA uses the RSI for entry and exit points not the TP. The TP is set far away so it does not interfere with the working of the EA. This is because if you set the TP too close the trades will close for small profits and not letting the beauty of the extremes work in your favour. Also, as explained earlier this EA is very simple and does not enter again if TP is reached until bar closed is EXTREME. Hope this helps you thinking.

Hi there Charles, many, many thanks for your kind reply...

I understand the TP settings very well now.

So far so good on the two different versions (a & b), meaning that trades are being opened as they should (with the exception of the EJ on the "b" version....

Will have to wait and see how the closing portion goes...

Stay well

Hi there Charles...I see you mention above that this is a very *simple* EA that does not like manual intervention, and I would agree with that...

However  how would you feel about an enhancement to opening & closing criteria?

You mentioned that you had enhanced the EA by adding the RSI as an extra criteria...do you think it would be beneficial at all to add something like a trend filter so that the EA will only open in the direction of the trend (is that even possible?) I suspect that this would cause the EA to take far, far less trades, and, given the *unpredictability* of the Forex market this might be detrimental to the EA...

What do you think? I am just throwing this out there...However, if the EA works well as is, I would also be inclined to think, if it aint broke, don't fix it...

make sure that you do not have 2 chart open.
--- Reason1 : Broker is very slow to response for new order open in some situation ( Busy server etc)
This Day, Forex price change very fast and broker is very tricky as well, When This EA request a open trade to broker, it will not check for broker response of "busy please wait" ETC, If it can not see a trade opened for 5 -20 seconds in its account, it will send broker a new request for trade, because of this, sometime It open up 2 trades, With good broker, It should not be a problem, their order system is more reliable,

I think that previous coder knew this problem and he added a error - message-flag to trap this error message but he doesn't know how to do handle this error message, it is not a small job to check for big table of error messages for ( Order open, Order select, order close, order modify) and what action to do, Etc.

I am not coder, But there are 2 person asked for mql code, so I am hoping that they are willing to help.

Hi Hannes,

You have an interesting point here but unfortunately your theory goes completely against the theory of this ea, as this ea stacks trades against the trend and then relies on the extreme at the other end to bring in the good profits.
So to incorporate a trend filter would simply stop any further trades being placed against the trend as your parameters would be to follow trend, from my thinking.

Umm, sorry, but agree with your last thought, if it ain't broke - don't fix it!!. Apart from the obvious error messaging that could need fixing up, or for the manual intervention people (myself included) where the EA needs some help to reload the EA correctly.

Regards, Charles.
