Once a Month EA

Post by McNish »

Hello People,

Great strategy this. And thanks Steve for coding it. Around the forum, there are some other threads dealing with this Once A X (M/W/D) strategy and while it is being coded here, i thought i'll just pitch in with a small cue that i phantom.

If month gives direction to week and week gives direction to days, why not just work with the days that are right in the center of it all. Trading Tue,Wed & Thurs of week 2 & 3 is what i had in mind. With exceptions, Mondays are usually slow, like today for example. Momentum is thick in these six days.

I know the attempt to the OAX strategy is to Maximise, but what i had in mind was to Optimise. That's all i have to offer for the time being.

Cheers & Regards, :D

For me so far, this month is following the pattern of month one. So far, I have three trades closed at tp garnering 175 pips. Unclosed dd is c. 90 pips.

Month 2 was profitable in a different way - see my earlier post about it.

Always good to start with some profit, so let's see what the rest of the month brings in terms of devastation, heartbreak and dispair. :arrrg: :arrrg: :arrrg:

Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Anyone here feeling generous? My paypal account is always in the market for a tiny donation. pianodoodler@hotmail.com is the account.

I'm sticking with 1 demo at this stage...starting on Day 17, so still a few days to go for me yet. This has been the most consistent for me.
Last month my demo hit approx 800 pip high water mark, ended up closed around +400 pips I think.

I tell this story from time to time for the benefit of any newb with the brains to listen.

Way back when and I was the ultimate rookie from rookiesville I happened upon a thread at FF entitled '20 pips a day'.

"What rubbish." thought I. "20 pips a day. A moron could do better."

Just before the markets crashed and took my first over-traded live account with it. Not sure how many live accounts I blew subsequently, but there were a few.

If I had made 20 pips a day from the start, this forum would not have existed, so I am mightily glad I was a cretin with a Forex train-wreck death wish.

Moving on, your +400 pips equates to 20 pips a day for the trading month so:
  • start a new live account dedicated to OAM.
  • make your compounded 20 pips a day for about 5 years then:
    • buy Google or some such just because you can.

Hi Guys,

I started the EA on Day 9 (yesterday) just to make sure i had it working OK....I kicked off at the start of the UK session, which 10am server time for me....

I closed 4 trades for 264pips and have 15 trades open at the moment for a total of -110 pips....

I'm using most of the setting discussed here e.g. 33% TP

I know a start trade day of 9 with a close of 20 may not see me come out in front, as this does not appear optimum based on the testing, but lets see how it goes....

I'm considering starting another basket day 15, now that i know the EA will behave on my platform as suggested...

I'm using AxiTrader crim on a standard demo account....

Like Wiggy, I started demo on Day 9 london open just to check setup etc.

So far I have three trades closed (EURGBP; GBLCHF; GBPUSD) for 275 pips.

Interestingly these same three currencies managed to open new trades just before the end of the day so I my basket is still 23 pairs!

Current DD is 201 pips so OAM is still ahead thus far.

I will also set up a demo starting day 17 and see where we go...

Cheers

Steve, you are absolutely correct! Let's hope all of our newbie traders (and some of those who have been trading unsuccessfully for a while) read this, absorb it and ACT on it!

This prompted me to add the indi to post 1. See Keeping track with iHistory just before the conclusion.

V 1e is in post 1.

Paul (lifesys) sent me this version with a function that allows text display in labels instead of the usual CrapTx 'Comment'. There are inputs that allow you to play with font and text size etc, so play with these until you have a display that suits you.

Thanks Paul. You are a star.
