Hi traders,

I just could not resist to do a careful test on a live account with very, very small lotsizes, to see how brokers react on these EA's / strategies.
I have several live accounts with different brokers (ECN, STP, etc.)
ALR 1 and especially ALR 2 are nice and interesting strategies, but I noticed sometimes incredible wide spreads with stoporders being placed. 25-35 pip spread did happen already. Mostly during Asian session, crosspairs.
So be careful choosing pairs etc. If an ALR zone is active, you simply can not skip news and Asian sessions etc where brokers play their games. Spreads can be terrible, next to the gap issue we noticed.

whoa!... 25-35 pip spreads could certainly mess up the ALR execution... Lagrange, off topic, but quickly, which ECN, STP brokers are these?

First I will wait for the official respone of their tradingdesk about 2 specific orders ok?
I got already a first reply from my agent that stoporders can easily 'cause' huge spreads because of LP's- volume, news, session, you know...

Next week NFP....imagine you have an ALR trade open with a pending stoporder; as we know it can happen price will spike up and down several times and will hit your orders rapidly, but not at your ALR level, but at the high or low of the spike...this can happen easily, also with the majors.

Hi everybody
Great thread. Intriguing concept -ALR.
Just my 2c. W.r.t. ALR with spread v8.5 EA I've tested the EA on Bully Pepperstone and Armada Demo. If memory serves...ALR with spread v8.5 EA was supposed to take into account commission and spread...but what I've found was that the commission still renders this strategy wholly unprofitable once you pass 3 or 4 'turns'. Is there an EA out there that accounts for comm and spread and thus increases your lot size accordingly so as to turn a profit or end up breakeven when you come out on the other side? Maybe I missed it.

Check the attachments for more info.

Made a mistake with the Bully Pepperstone settings. It should be XYZ=12; TP=15; SL=5
Sorry...

So as expected the problem is the stop order. A price is not guarantueed if a stoporder is used. Nothing to do with the broker but with the Liquidity providers. When an ALR level is been hit it can be during asian session, low volume, news, etc.

This is the official reply, but we know, tradingfriends, we are always being hunted by the banks / LP's.
This is not an honest game.
Give them carte blanche with a stoporder, and they will slaughter you.

Friends I would say better use limit orders, and , or stay away from the exotic pairs, otherwise huge spreads are possible.

Hope this helps, best L.

You have a crap broker. I used the ALR live during asian session and I never have 25-35 pips spread and it did a hedge turn right after an AUD news release with not so much slippage and made profit. I would understand 25-35 pips spread only on NFP. It's a bucket shop, change broker immediately. What is the name of that broker anyway so that I will make sure to stay away from them?

I am using Spiders ALR2 with manual entry from Bold Trader's FXD01 (dashboard by Elixe). The loss recovery is working fine with very occasional irrational positions but as they are stops can be adjusted. So far it seems to be a comfortable combination for my taste in risk management.

The loss recovery works as well with any entry system, it is only my choice of manual trading to choose FXD01 for the entry but then closing out the losses as BE or profit, I also used the MTF dashboard, a derivative of Elixe's FXDO1version as the entry
have a look at:
