For your interest guys, I have coded a Once a Day bot based on the principles here and it appears to be working.

There are a few display details to sort out, so I will be able to release it in time for next week.

Once a Month EA

Post by Wiggy1965 »

Steve,

I just added version 1g to a chart on a demo account and kicked it off about 15min (start of London open)

The only change i made to the setting was set TP to 10....

I opened about 17 trades, no big deal....

However, having a look at the open trades and there TP on some appear excessive...

I notice the EJ opened 136.731 with a TP of 121.494, some 1500 pips...

AJ open 97.159 with TP 143.953...

CADJPY open 95.693 with TP 172.011...

CHFJPY open 113.389 with TP 212.150...

Is there something unique with the JPY currencies that the EA is not handling....?

See below screen shot...
OAM Day possible Problem 29-08-2014.jpg
I'm going to have a look at the Draw Down trades that i closed in my two demo last night to see if any of these had excessive TP's....

Nice spot Wiggy. Thanks.

The fix is in V 1h in post 1. There was some code left behind by my thrashing around trying to make sodding stacking work that multiplied the jpy pairs pip factor by 100. Make the change yourselves by commenting out these two lines of code:

Code: Select all

double Mult = CalculateMultiplier(OrderSymbol());//Temporary fix for the factor problems
AvProf*= Mult;//Temporary fix for the factor problems
Lines 1154/5

Delete the offending TP's from the trade once you have downloaded/made the fix and attached it to your chart. OAM will magically replace it with the correct value.

Thanks Steve,

I'll have to do it later, I'm at the pub having a beer and watching the footy waiting for my ribs to show up...:-)

Steve,

That seems to have fix it, although it appears that any of the trades that were already past the take profit level, the EA would not add a new TP...So i closed manually....

I'm assuming this is correct behavior....!

also, could you confirm how the TP is calculated....? eg, 33% for example....

I have read through the thread and I'm still not clear...

Regards
Wiggy

P.S, I only had 3 wife beaters at the pub, so I'm not pissed...;-)

New toy guys http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... f=5&t=3817

I suggest we move discussion about trading every day to the new thread, and leave this one for discussing developments here as OAM was originally intended to trade. No idea which one will turn out to be the best, or if we can use both of them. We shall see.

Hi all

Started OAM (version 1h) this month (Sept) on Day 7 with 33% TP.

Got hammered on the next day with most pairs in negative. In hindsight I should not have started so close to a lot of Red News.

It now has 5 closed trades (+39pips) and 14 open (-203pips).

Let see if it can dig itself out of the hole by the end of the month

Kind regards Rapple

Just curious, anyone have positive results with this EA? I'm thinking of killing my demo after 3 months of slowly bleeding out :\

EA's are the best way to trade. Why? Because they take the emotion out of trading.

For me, it morphed into Once a Day 'n Bob, then FB grabbed by attention, so I have not needed it.

Ok, lol, just wanted to check, FB is definitely the most exciting for me as well but I like to run as many successful EA's as possible to lower my overall risk even if some only make a small percent of the better one :)
