WOW.

I tried it today, and closed with 1.5% profit a few minutes ago.
I didn't follow all the rules, as I have to drive over an hour to the office, I miss at least one bar closingtime after LO.
Today I started entering trades at 11h00 [10h00 London time], and then on every hour again. I entered in all pairs; previous bar red; sell. Previous bar green; buy.
I noticed that one trades a huge amount of lots this way, I closed 6.98 full lots with $150,- profit, so a little over 2 pips on averige.....

I think this strategy could be easily automated for someone with the needed skills....
:jump:
Gertje your results of just over two pips on average is exactly what I have been observing whilst trialling this method..

I quite like Zonnors' idea a few pages back and feel like tinkering. But I need the iCustom format to do so.

Or better yet, can anybody tell me how to work out what the iCustom format for any given indi is. The MTF HGI I created relied heavily on code previously produced by Rene.

Alas, it is rather early days for this little hotcake so no such code exists for me to pilfer.

Cheers,
BobbyT

PS: Bob, will there be a library version put out in the foreseeable future? Thanks and congratulations on another great contribution to the community
BobbyT,

Now that the code is available, grab the newest version on post#1. This will make the iCustom call simple. Drop the indi in your indicators folder and set up the 'extern inputs' to fit your strategy. Now you just call the buffer you want to access.

Code: Select all

/*
//indicator buffers
double   arrUSD[]; //0
double   arrEUR[]; //1
double   arrGBP[]; //2
double   arrJPY[]; //3
double   arrAUD[]; //4
double   arrCAD[]; //5
double   arrNZD[]; //6
double   arrCHF[]; //7
*/

string CSSSuperFile = "Gary's.BaludaSuperCSS.v.2.0";

//this iCustom call will use default inputs in 'CSSSuperFile'
double Curr1Val = iCustom(Symbol(), Period(), CSSSuperFile, 0, 0); //USD
double Curr1ValPrior = iCustom(Symbol(), Period(), CSSSuperFile, 0, 1); //USD
double Curr2Val = iCustom(Symbol(), Period(), CSSSuperFile, 7, 0); //CHF
double Curr2ValPrior = iCustom(Symbol(), Period(), CSSSuperFile, 7, 1); //CHF
Here are two links I reference before using iCustom.

gprince66 thanks for the reply but I think BobbyT was asking the question, you guys are just speaking Swahili.

Unfortunately today a chipped tooth had me dashing to the dentist after the 12:00 candle and I did not get back for some hours and missed 4 candles.

Account was in a small draw down so just took the next candle and carried on as if nothing had been missed but set my basket to close at 1%. Target hit and job done.

This week should be interesting and should pretty much show any flaws in the method as there is some fairly important news releases this week. Most banks are due to release some kind of announcement/speech which should throw a fair bit of volatility at the markets.

Day 4 of forward testing of what I am calling the "Awfully Simple System".

This was my worse day, but still a wining day, so I'll take it. The market was pretty flat for the European and NY sessions and this system needs some volatility. Most of the moves today started in the Asian Session, especially for AUD and NZD, when I wasn't trading.

For the record, 5 trades, 4 winners, 1 loser. Net pips = 40. Of the 4 winners two of the trades were basically breakeven, whereas the other two hit TP.

One more day of this to go :D

I don't plan on any changes but I expect the community to have fun with this.

Did you consider opening trades on EVERY pair at UK-opening, regardless if a cross happened or not?
Some pairs start going up or down before LO, and never cross back.
Hi Gertje

I was looking at my charts during the open and was going to test this. Once the initial trade is placed on each pair I am also looking at switching to M30 and trading crosses. An hour of a pair moving strongly in the wrong direction can take you a long way into the red before you can jump in and hedge.

Something else I played with yesterday was taking trades in the direction of the H4 CSS on all 27 pairs. I tried this three times yesterday, once towards the end of the the Asian session, once at the Frankfurt open and once just after London open. I traded 0.01 lots per $1000 with a 3% target and 15% shirt protection. The first two hit pretty quickly. The London session took some time and went to -8% before I changed the target profit to 2% and it hit about 5 hours into the session.

I need to tweak the strategy to have some more method. I am thinking maybe trading Daily crosses with a 1.5% target, the open of the 3PM H4 candle (Australia East Coast Time) 1.5% target and and then London open on the H1 but trading M30 crosses 1.5%.

Cheers

Keith

These results below are from my H4 testing yesterday with the respective targets of 3%, 3% and 2%.

I am moving state this week so will get as much testing in as I can

Hi Keith,

I'm not sure what you're saying regarding lotsizing.
The nearly $800 profit suggested a $10K account, but the lotsizes you used indicates $30K.
What accountsize are you trading?

Sorry - I did use 0.3. I was using 0.01 per $1000 in another test I am running. Zennor's method of working out 1% per trade using a 2 x ATR SL and then deleting the stop loss makes sense but was time consuming so I took a rough average of 0.3.

Okay, got it.
I produced a spreadsheet and made a table that says to use x-lotsize with y-ATR.
Works like a charm, and you only need to look when entering the first set of trades early in the morning. All consequent trades will have the same lotsize after that.

Nice one. I hadn't even considered hardcoding the externs which is why I was so confused about the iCustom format for this indi (there's a hell of a lot of them).

The fact I'd been trying to piece together some BST/DST resistant time conversions didn't make things any easier.

I'll see if I can push it into one of Steve's shell to run by next week (though no promises as I'm preparing to move to the U.S next week). And someone much more adept than myself will likely beat me to the punch anyways haha

Cheers,
BobbyT
