Geko's SuperSlope Cross Dashboard

Post by Geko »

Hi,

Thanks for your contributions guys :-)

@ ScarletPipernel :
When EA settings are changed, edit boxes are set back to default value during the re-initialisation. I can make those settings stick if really needed, however, I would recommend to tweak EA settings first (not needed after) and once done to play with buttons and edit boxes.

New DB EA version in this post has 2 new buttons to switch all buy/sell buttons to On or Off.

Concerning the de-activation / auto-re-activation of trading in the DB EA I am open to any suggestion. Considering the time filter and the session filter we have various options. However, in any case, I think it would make sense as a first criteria to make sure that no trade is open (clear from previous basket).

Cheers,

Thanks Geko. Yes, I agree if you can edit the default settings there really is no need for input buttons.

As for a trading resume setting I don't think it needs to be more complicated than Resume Trading After Basket Close? == True/False.

If the market hours dictate that a new trade should not be made until a certain time, the EA will respect that. This is just to avoid situations where the EA is unattended for an hour or two and misses a particularly fruitful period of trading because it reached its goal early.

I am having good success so far using a 2 bar lookback MN-W1-D1 setting with all 3 cross threshold buttons ON, 5 percent profit closure, as well as a D1-H4-H1 with 2 bar lookback and a 1 percent profit closure.

My other tests are just breaking even or failing slightly, mostly because they are using shorter term filters and using a % loss closure. I think closing baskets based on % loss is not the best strategy over the long term. I think there needs to be some kind of long-term protection against black swan events, and I'm not sure the basket by itself will take care of that. So maybe setting a very wide % loss value, would suffice. I have tried using the ATR stop loss for one test, but as is usually the case with stop loss it's always too tight to weather retraces, but too big to outpace take-profits. I will keep tweaking settings and post my results at the end of the week.

Thanks Geko, new buttons much appreciated. :good:

Regarding a resume trading option, I agree that it should be True/False if anything, my personal choice at present being false, on the grounds that I'm not yet that comfortable with the alternative.

I'd still be interested in filtering the signals based on diff value. Positive diff for Buy, negative for Sell. Optional for those that don't like?

Thanks!

London session came in like a lion and wiped out much of my monthly progress. The accounts that had a basket closure percentage are now leading, so it does seem effective during emergencies.

As a result I now have a new rule: close out all profitable baskets prior to a new session opening. I might consider changing the trading day start time to begin one hour after the session has started. It will miss some big moves but will be more in tune with the existing trends when the EA selects trades.

As promised, the most interesting of my weekly results. Settings files available on request. I will stop posting these updates or post in another thread if you feel it is cluttering up the discussion.

5 accounts. All funded with 3k USD. All using 0.01 per 1k of balance. Three were profitable. Empty4 report attached for those. Each of these used 2 lookback bars. The effect of altering lookback bars on the results was interesting. Less than 2 and the number of trades seemed to be drastically reduced, but with no perceptible increase in accuracy. More than 2 produced drastically more trades, which is an entirely different type of trading idea, although might be worth exploring.

My results confirm Leon's comments about long-term settings showing the most promise, even when taking profits on a daily basis, although H4-H1-M15 worked well, and D1-H4-H1 with no loss closure showed promise and then crapped out; it currently has a floating loss slightly less than its profit.

I manually closed all profitable trades and left the unprofitable ones that seem to have longer term prospects. I will leave these 3 accounts mostly un-tampered with and experiment with the other two.

A summary of my week, saw a little under 4% profit across 3 sets - M1/W1/D1, W1/D1/H4 and H4/H1/M15.

I'm still trading manually as and when I can, only releasing EA to order when the signal is backed up by css diff aligning +ve for buy and -ve for sell.
Its a pretty cautious approach and I'm clearly often missing the early part of a move.

Totalling liitle more than a dozen trades in the week (there were a couple of days when I just didn't get the opportunity to trade), sometimes with just a single trade open in the basket. I am using the EA to place the orders and close them for SL -1% and TP +2%, with a 1% account risk per trade. I'm also 'conciously limiting my exposure per currency so no more than 2 open trades on any currency.

I plan to continue with this strategy (although I won't get much opportunity next week) but perhaps with a bit more tolerance to opening multiple trades on a single currency, as I get more confident with the signals.

So far so good..

Hi Guys,

Here a new DB EA update with a new button to keep trading on when all trades are closed.

In the previous DB EA version when some baskets where closed and only when some baskets where closed (with % profit or loss closure) the trading mode was automatically switched to Off.

This new button allows you to keep trading “On” if you want when a basket is closed.

It means that if trading is not filtered by time or session, once a basket is closed, new trades can be open immediately.

Next update will concern entries filter with diff values.

Cheers

Thanks Geko!

I'm looking forward to testing this all week, especially with the US election ruckus. See how the basket fares against the shocks and slings of fortune. Looks like the attitude is very 'risk on' now that Clinton's been cleared by the FBI.

After examining my losing trades from last week, I think I probably need to monitor more carefully, and close individual trades that never had a chance from the start. At the same time I closed some profitable trades too soon, but that was before I had the 'keep trading' button, so I might keep the profit closure on but make it ambitiously large , and mostly close out profit trades at the end of each trading session, let losing trades with potential recover, and shut down the complete misses. See you next week with the results.

Thanks Geko.. :hi:

OOTB settings doing great, will load the latest version.

Some pretty impressive results, initially I manually set up for 4H + 1H but after a loss just reset to OOTB and all losses regained..

http://www.fxblue.com/users/2061993

However when margin started to get a bit skinny I just closed offsetting trades to release some margin which seems to work pretty well. IE if I have a winning trade of say £100 I close it and a losing trade of equal or lesser value.

Keep up the great work Geko and all you kind chaps with your many methods..

Found the following in the Comments field of 2 of the closed trades. Is this because of a margin problem? Not sure what was happening as it occurred while I was sleeping.
so: 100.0%/8945.7/8946.6
so: 97.5%/8992.4/9226.6

It certainly didn't cause too many problems as I had 19 closed baskets yesterday. All were winners except the basket where the above messages appeared. Basically running OOTB settings with 1% profit closure and -4% loss closure on H4/H1/M15, D1/H4/H1 and MN/D1/H4.

Thanks Geko.
