yes, the TTF Fastperiod needs a number, even though the MaCalcMethod is MA Single Line ??
Brokers-ATC Fastperiod needs a number
Absolutely! The "Method for Calculation" being "MA Single Line" has nothing to do with the Trade Parameters ( TradingTimeFrame, TradingSlowMAPeriod, TradingSlowMAMethod, TradingFastMAPeriod and TradingFastMAMethod).

It is is four step process:

1. In the first step, MAD-EA fills out the dashboard with arrows. These arrows are formed by looking back LookingBackMinutes, for either a MA-cross (if the "Method for Calculation" was "MA Cross" ) or a change of direction on the Slow MA. This is done for each of the selected timeframes.

2. At the end of step one, we have a filled dashboard of arrows. Now we are going to check which currency groups are strong, and which are weak. This is done by counting arrows on the timeframes where the setting for RequiredSignals specifies how many we are looking for. A currency group is deemed strong if we have found at the least the required number of UP-arrows, for all the timeframes that we have specified to be part of the strength test. Similar for weak.

3. At the end of step two, we know which currency groups are strong and which ones are weak. The dashboard would have coloured the symbol names in the strong group GREEN and the symbol names in the weak group RED. With this knowledge, we can trade the strong currencies against the weak currencies, in the hope that this would give us an edge on the short-medium term.

4. The TradingTimeFrame, TradingSlowMAPeriod, TradingSlowMAMethod, TradingFastMAPeriod and TradingFastMAMethod parameters are only coming into play at this step. Let's say we have found strong currency XXX and a weak currency YYY at the end of step 3. We are looking to buy XXXYYY (if such currency pair exists) otherwise we are looking to sell YYYXXX. This trade will only proceed if the Trading MA's are stacked in the correct order, i.e for a BUY of XXXYYY we need the Fast MA above the Slow MA, and we need the bid of XXXYYY above the Fast MA. This is all evaluated on the given TradingTimeFrame.

Hopefully this resolves the confusion.

Thanks Rene for the clarification, I forgot about that and was mixing the MA setup with the entry MAs. :hi:

Update MAD-EAv1.4 is in Post 1
Two little problems were fixed:
(1) Someone reported to have a br0ker that has symbols with no extension, and symbols with the 'c' extension, and he wishes to use the symbols with the 'c' extension. Go figure! In addition, this br0ker was listing both NZDAUDc and AUDNZDc and GBPEURc and EURGBPc and several others. Why, I don't have a clue. This was throwing a spanner in the wheels of both MADDY and MAD-EA, but that has now been fixed. If you are one of the unlucky persons, who can not use Global Prime as your br0ker and have to use a dubious br0ker that has dubious symbols, you now have a way to use MAD-EA by properly configuring the ExcludeExtensions and/or IncludeExtensions parameters. You are already disadvantaged enough by not having Global Prime, so I thought to not add to your misery and make the changes in MAD-EA so that you can still run it.
(2) There was a bug if you both had the M1 and M15 timeframes selected, and clicked on an arrow under the M15 column, it would open the chart on M1, not M15. This bug has now also been fixed.

MADDY has been updated similarly. It is only a matter of time before I will decouple the dashboard component from MAD-EA. If/when that is happens, there is only one dashboard to maintain, which is MADDY and one trade engine to maintain, which will be MADTrader. MADDY will be sending its strength/weakness signals to MADTrader, which in turns uses its wits to open and close trades. This allows for many different MADTraders all acting on the same strength/weakness information. A few very keen MA-traders are currently testing this setup.

But I already did. I posted it in text and was graciously translated into set file by 2 other traders here, and the only missing number was the FastMAPeriod which has now been resolved, and we wait for more clarification from Rene.

Cheers
I just asked you again because yesterday the EA didn't open any trade. God bless you.

I had today the same problem with your set-file, no trades were opened. I saw in your set-file, that the TradingFast MAPeriod is 0. When I set the FastMAPeriodhave to 6, the EA immediately opend 6 new trades

Nobody is immuned to DD and nobody can predict when a pullback becomes a reversal and the trend ends.
I just highligthed the first line so you know which post I am referring to.

Great post and very inspirational

Thanks George :good:

Hi Guys,

Through a logical thinking process I want to attempt to show you that it does not really matter how far you have set the look back with reference to Rene's very clear 4 step process that he has once again given us with clear guidance.

My set file attached once again with 5 min (5 required signals), 15 min( 5 required ), 30 min (4 required signals), 1 hour( 4 require signals), 4 hour ( 4 required signals)
Mad ea 3460 110316.set
Picture 1
From the dash board you can see that EUR symbol currently is the strongest group out of all the groups so I will use this group as my example for my thought process. In this group you will see that from 30 min up to the 4 hour time frame all have up arrows but essentially are stale signals because they were generated yesterday......so if I only set these time frames for the currency strength test trades would have opened on stale signals today..not what I want.

So with all this in mind from the picture you will see that the EUR group is not ready for trades because we have the 5 and 15 min time frame in pullback mode with red arrows and I have specified them in the currency strength test I need 5 up arrows at least for each one of them ( 5 min and 15 min). Only then and only then will the EUR column be highlighted in Green which is currently white. When changed to green the EUR symbol would be ripe and ready to open a trade.....but it needs to find another symbol group that is highlighted in Red which obviously will have the same conditions as above but showing opposite strength or weakness if you like....
Mad ea 110316.png
Picture 2

From this picture which was taken more than 30 mins later you can see in the 5 minute column that Eurgbp and Eurusd has just been highlighted in green and Eurnzd in red this is simply telling us that the 34 Ma has crossed above the 60 Ma at the close of the 5 minute candle and for Eurnzd the 34 Ma has crossed below the 60 Ma... So in essence the dash board will show in all the highlighted blocks fresh signals for ma crossovers in the last 30 minutes on all the time frames.....You can see that this picture is different to Picture one and in the first picture all the timeframe columns are highligthed. It is simply because I just opened the Ea and and my "highlight minutes" is 30 minutes so it will highlight it for 30 minutes. From posts that I see here some guys are getting confused with these highlights....It is simply telling us that an Ma has crossed over on a particular timeframe or in the case of a single line method that the candle has closed above the Ma on that specific timeframe.....This has nothing to do with the entry condition....

All the dash board wants to see is the amount of signals the you have specified for each time frame and in my case I have specified 5 min (5 required signals), 15 min( 5 required ), 30 min (4 required signals), 1 hour( 4 require signals), 4 hour ( 4 required signals) so only if it sees the amount of arrows as I have specified will it higlight the symbol column for EUR which is white at the moment..
Mad Ea 110316 b.png
So in summary if you shorten the look back the Ea will only show arrows in that period specified which is fine but in essence will perform exactly the same as a longer look back but just that the shorter look back will trade up and down signals if you only specify the currency strength signal lets say up to 30 mins, but the danger for me here is getting caught on the wrong side of the trend....but if you specify all the time frames with a short look back you definitely will get a trade.....one day :) but guaranteed a sure trade and one which I would not want to treat as a scalp but a swing trade..

It will be nice to catch the rhythm of the market by looking at each currency individually to see if we want to include it as a symbol to trade which we cannot do right now but I believe Rene will address this..

Anyway guys all I have time for now please feel free to ask questions...this whole process is really very simple and a great piece of work by Rene and George....I think some of us are just making it more complex than what it really is..

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something that has happened in the past and it was an easy fix. Nothing untoward seems to show up under the expert tab, Empty4 works fine and the buttons begin working again if I reload the EA so it is more of a convenience thing. I will keep investigating.
Thanks for the response! I dont know how you find the time to keep up with all of us AND code. :good:
I might have been able to reproduce the error neocount has been experiencing.
When one clicks an up or down arrow a chart opens, no problem there. If you happen to click the same arrow again by accident the EA produces an error and won't open any more charts.
This is tested with a custom Template and version 1.4.

I don't mind the bug, but just wanted to let you know.
Thx for the EA.
