I have used Fib retraces or an S/R to enter when price is barrelling in a direction due to 'news'

The problem I found is when the Fox has decided that it will just be a book-balancing event, and you end up with a doji for all your efforts (bummer)

Still, scalping some pips by trading price's reaction to the news is not a bad idea :)

I have limited myself to only taking those crazy 'news' trades when they tie into the completion of a pattern ( e.g an a-b-c to go long, and price spiking down to finish the 'c' )

Hey sean!, long time, good to see you back :)

Made a change to my lot sizing some months ago. You may have noticed my stacked trades nowadays are in the 0.10 - 0.33 range [ huge cut from when I'd stack 1 - 5 lot trades on the SAME size of a/c ]

For the AUDCAD trade, only two positions were on when the 80 pips stop-hunt spike happened: 0.33 + 0.17
Very roughly: total of 0.5 for 80 pips ~ less than $400 in DD

For today's rough ride however, I had too many positions running (IMO) [ CJ definitely wouldn't approve :/ ] Good thing was though it was several positions per trade going the wrong way, the lots were small. Total 50% DD. Had to cut it, was obvious I was wrong. If I had good positions running that lessened the DD, would still have closed out everything and wiped the slate clean, then re-assess.

50% seems like a lot to cut. But the key for me is: winning hugely when I'm right. And pulling out a chunk of the profits from the a/c (every so often). Keeps me from being reckless and also means I can re-capitalize if disaster happens.

PS: I see the USDCAD same as you! I know I'm sounding insane, but it's plays like this and USDNOK and USDSEK, etc that are making me think USD is going to go up strong, soon

Looks like Fox is hunting it high, then hunting it low --> trapping volume!

Also common for him to do that when sessions are changing

PS: like the font on your background :), reminds me of good times infront of a Linux terminal :)
