I start with H4 just to get overall direction and key H4 levels (eg am I ready to turn with the H4 trend and catch potentially bigger move) but I mainly look for levels on my H1 chart and count pushes and get entries using W Ms RRTs on M15. See attached EU H1 for the last few days. I setup my charts so that I can just click back and forth between H4 and H1 so I can see the H4 levels (yellow) on the H1 (aqua) but not vice versa (so it doesn't clog up my H4 with H1 stuff)) and I label the levels as I go so I can see them on M15. Takes some work each day, but once done I know where I am, or should be, with a single look at a currency pair. Whatever works...dydynamic » Fri Jul 10, 2015 9:42 pm wrote:Hi Occam,
is it easier to see levels on 4HR chart or 1HR chart as levels on both are not the same, which of them is more reliable, 4H or 1HR?:youknow:
The last move up from the low of the 7th June was a bit tricky. I used the daily separators this time to identify the high of each day as the level, as the M15 push count was a bit difficult to identify. After the L3 high on 9th June we basically had 2 pushes down on M15 into the trapping volume also forming an ABC.
And then we have had a massive move up. The count on this move is a bit difficult, I'm not sure if it's just one big move to level 1 at the current high or whether there is a lower level 1. There is a retest to confirm the level. But to have that as level 1 would mean having 2 levels on one day (unless you treat it as a high from the previous day since it was early Asian session almost on the rollover). So I will wait and see, knowing it could be either.
So when it's like this I just label my level with a question mark to say I'm not sure of the count eg 'L1?' The top level will only be decided after today's high.
Sometimes my H4 1 level (yellow) doesn't line up exactly with my H1 3 (aqua). They should be in the same vicinty though, I place the levels generally on the closes, where I can see a range/consolidation, not on the tops of wicks (wicks are stop hunts lol), it just looks better to my eye and helps with retests. Hope that helps.
[Edit: It's not exactly the same as CJ draws them in the PDF (he draws the horizontal level at the pullback rather than the high - see page 130) but it identifies the same levels, the count is the same.]
