EX4 NIGHTMARE!!!!

Hello Everyone,

Whenever I download the MQ.4 files I open the Empty4 editor so I can make an EX.4 file.

Problem.

After I hit compile there is no EX.4 file visable!

Finally I located EX.4 files in C:/user/pippa/downloads????

So I manually transfer/drag the MQ4 and EX4 to their proper destnations in the FinFX EA folder and/or indicator folder within that.

Still have glitches that I did not have before.

I have patiently spent hours at this point trying to figure this situation out.

Have read posts online that there is a problem with Windows 7 blah,blah, blah, regarding this matter.

Please be warned that I am not EA savvy but truly trying to learn here.

Could someone please help me?

Hi Pippa,

Its good practice to first put the MQ4 file in the right folder before you try to compile it, drag it from the downloads folder into Empty4/FinFx/experts folder, then open it up in the Empty4 editor, when you hit compile it will put the EX4 file into the same folder as the MQ4 file.

Im guessing you have FinFX installed in the Program Files(x86) folder? If you still have problems try installing Empty4 directly onto the C drive? not in program Files(x86)

Once you've downloaded a file you need to copy it from your default download folder (which in your case seems to be c:/user/pippa/download) into the proper destination before you edit/compile it. The compiled file ends up in the same folder as the original mq file.

Still have glitches that I did not have before.

What are the glitches?

Thank you Guys,

Everything working as in loaded properly, checked Experts folder, log etc. and still EA (new version not making trades)

This is on FinFX and I have had the same EA running on them before!

I suppose you have checked the obvious?

1./ Smiley face top right
2/ Tools > Options > Expert Advisors - The 4 left hand boxes checked, 4 inner boxes unchecked
3/ Expert Advisor button in top toolbar is green.

What EA are you trying to run?

Its a process of elimination, try the above first

I am not the only person having problems loading Crossfader!

I have older version on Crim that I hate.

Everything working.

On finfx you can see here from Experts log. Everything loads



Then I load Crossfader (which in log says everything fine)



Yes, Smiley face there. Tools, Options, EA all proper checked.

I have spent all week now trying to solve this situation.

Have reinstalled FinFX Empty4 three times as well.

ANY help is so appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Pippa,

You need to have the current indicators for the current version of CrossVader installed and compiled
to stop the error.

It looks as though you havent installed the ALF-slope.mq4 file to your indicators folder, its trying to find its EX4 file but its not there.. Go to the Crossfader thread Post 1 and its there for download

Hello Everyone,

Here is/was the confusion.

Originally, indicators had to be dragged onto chart.

Now, they don't. Just need to be put in "indicators" folder.

This EA has had so many updates etc.

Also, I now have EURO/USD and GPD/USD running well on FInFX BUT XAU/USD and XAG/USD not trading. Loaded, not trading.


I wonder if this is a Symbol problem?

Went into Optons and saw there is an area for checking "Automatic" or "Default."

At present it is on "Automatic." (for Symbols)

Just a thought.
