GG Renko bricks

Post by Generaal Goudvis »

To all coders-united,

Your help is needed. I have a strategy (based on Renko bricks) I actually trade on a live account.
It works with pretty decent revenues. And with my basic knowledge of coding....I haven’t managed to make an EA out of it.

The input:
EMA 10
EMA30
EMA 60
Rencko bricksize 10

Let’s start with a picture:

Schermafbeelding 2013-03-23 om 19.33.05.png
What is the moment of entry for an uptrend?
steady trend, based on EMA10, 30 and 60 are all lined up like the dutch flag :).
one brick down (blue) followed by two bricks up (red)
that is your entry point (this is the highest orange line)
stoploss just a full brick below the blue brick (40 pips in a bricksize of 10)
in the picture the lowest orange line

You only take your profit in two occasions:
a predefined takeprofit; I normally use 80 pips or more
the stoploss is always a full brick below the lowest low (so the lowest blue brick)
(this is to me a manual trailing stop)

To me this makes perfect sense, and above all steady pips.

And knowing the brightest minds are on this forum.....the downtrend is the exact opposite.

But as stated I can’t make a working EA. So please help me with this. Ask me all questions and let’s try to make something beautiful.

Steve coded "version 1".
After an adjustment made by Niepce...I uploaded this version in the first post. So everybody can start from here....

Hi GG

I am just flagging up my interest in this here.

I am a pianist by trade, and for pianists the picture is always feast or famine. Right now, I am so busy I barely know what my own name is. So, there is nothing I cab do right now.

If nobody has coded this for you by the end of next week, send me a pm with a link to here as a nudge. I can knock this ea together in half an hour, and will have emerged from my busy time by then.

:D
Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Anyone here feeling generous? My paypal account is always in the market for a tiny donation. pianodoodler@hotmail.com is the account.

My special thanks to Thomas (tomele) for all the incredible work he does here.

Hi All,

In this weekend I have combined my thoughts in a document.....As I got a first reply early sunday-morning from Steve.

To make sure I am able to get my mindset and rules across to all you coders, I made this document.
As you can expect from a goldfish (with a memory span of three seconds)....fairly easy to understand. Isn't it?

Hope this helps.

All,

firstly to Niepce...I am sorry for the previous typo.....

And never trade during Eastermonday....But what if you already had open trades???....let the eggs be warm and welcome in the basket.....My result of today: Two trades (usdjpy and gbpusd) brought me maximum rides, according to my strategy.

happy Easter and pips to all.

Just browsing the forum and looking into every corner of Steve's achievements.....

And stumbled upon the Tiger EA wit the Octomanoak Simple Reversal Candle Strategy incorporated. And it's based on TDI instead of a plain EMA[close} cross of 10,30,60. But it has my reversal pattern in it if you adjust the value of 2 pips tot the initial Renko bricksize.

Will it work on Renko? I am not sure, but I put it on demo and will find out the next days.

If someone has advice or sees a possibility to take this EA as a startingpoint......please do so.
Happy Blupping
