trend line trading

Hi Steve,

I have a system that works for me but it would be very helpful if a trend line trader could be added, so it will auto execute when a trendline is touched.

The system is actually pretty simple. It uses a keltner channel and a trendline, which is drawn using the peaks/bottoms within this channel. Then once price breaks out of the channel and also through the drawn trend line it generates a buy/sell opportunity. Now a new trendline is drawn for a price level to execute the trade. This can be a horizontal level, the previous broken line, but also any other line drawn. When this level/line (support resistance) is touched the trade is executed.

I am looking for an EA that executes a trade when a drawn trendline is touched (support and resistance). There are a few of those ea's on the net, but I thought that you could maybe guide me to one, as you're an expert in all that has to do with Empty4 and ea's. Maybe you've made something in the past? I am not a coder myself and I suppose it's not needed to code something new when it's already available, but if it ain't I might want to start coding one.

Just because an indi draws a line on a chart doesn't mean an ea can recognise that line. The ea needs to know what the line is called.

It might be, indeed probably is, possible to ascertain which line has been drawn by the latest crap custom abortion (generally know amongst those daft enough to use them as 'custom indicators')but I have learned enough not to get drawn into this game. Unless the custom indi has been coded by one of our resident geniuses, in which case I will spend hours coding anything anybody wants. The CCA you post here wasn't, so I won't.

I just reread your op.

Perhaps you only want an ea that trades following the break of a trendline that you have drawn on your chat and the cca is irrelevant?

There must be a gazillion of them out there.

Hi TU, your post of request for a Trendline EA has been my search for many years... 1 , 2 and on the 3 touch buy/sell, simple as can be... I have had many EA's to do this, most no longer work.
Magic Stick was the one i used the most, its cost me $500 initial, the code to tell the TL is simple. but last few months ago i get a email after the #600 builds came out that the designer was no longer going to upgrade the EA to make it function with the new Empty4 #600 build's.... This was a heart breaker, after all the trying to find an EA to work and then the designer goes south on us. The next news i get is that a new owner took it over an fix the newer #600+ build to work properly. but at an additional cost of $150 yrly charge. starting next year after i complained, they gave me.... SOOO, nothing seems to remain true in this market just like the Fox we chase to entrap. (seems the industry has become that which they LOOK at, The Fox )...
There is another EA : Advanced Autotrading from Trendlines in Empty4 4 - Platinum System with Java Interface FXAlgoTrader Trendline which has a interface of which you put in the info of the Trendlline which will keep you from remembering code, simple as they come and company is still in business and supports there product. product cost is $350. one time charge. The Java interface is worth the money as compared to Magic stick code which was simple but the interface is much eaiser and faster to set the Line's and commands...

I have some code that I can share. Its not an EA, but can be included in an EA if you wish. I use this code to draw support and resistance lines on a chart that I can then drag up and down. The magic happens using the new event driven stuff that was ported from MQL5 to MQL4. I also save the values in global variables so that you can restart your EA or change timeframes without any issues. My EA then checks the that Bid and Ask are between the globalvar before taking a trade.

Here is some code. It draws a support and resistance line on the chart. If you then drag the lines around, the global vars are updated. In the start() function I then set a bool if the Bid falls within the bands. I use this in an EA to manually set a trading range for an EA.
