Site might be slow

Steve, I noticed that the site was slow the last few days sometimes even timing out. Other sites I go to had no problem. So I ran some tests from different area's and here is a link to one test from London. I don't know if you would consider this slow but it was over 5 seconds to get your index page to load. Just something I thought to bring to your attention.

Yes, I've also noticed it's been VERY slow, and I had several timeouts this morning. Steve, you might want to get your hosting company to look at it...

Waiting for pages to load is like watching paint dry sometimes.

I signed up with Dreamhost.com following a very strong recommendation from someone who had used them and found them excellent, with superb customer service.

Organisations change. It looks as though Dreamhost has done so. I have privately nicknamed them Nighmarehost - well, not so privately any more. So far as I can tell, their 'customer service' is utter rubbish. I can attest personally that they do not read emails sent to them.

I will bring this up with them, but don't hold your breath for any improvement.

Just to let you guys know, it turns out that our increasingly valuable friend Tommaso (milanese) has run his own forums before and knows a lot about the back end of all this stuff. He is looking into all this for us.

For now, be happy when a page loads without a problem, and curse when it doesn't. 'tis what I am doing.

No, not that sad. It means that somebody grades SHF with high reputation and really want to promote it to higher level by limiting its access. This type of action is named as retro- advertisement according to Marketing Theory.

Congrats SH for deserving reputation and many thanks to hidden helpers who devote invaluable helps by serving best of their resources and efforts to broadcast SHF free of charge.
