Help for only 25 more days

As some of you know I ran an International Tutoring Center in Nanning, China for 12 years. We turned the center over to some parents and we are going on to other things. While we ran the school our friend Karl was a full time teacher, part time teacher, substitute teacher but most of all he was our computer and internet expert. Our students took middle/high school through an internet school back in the USA. Our middle/high school was kept running by him and he spent many hours taking care of connections and equipment for almost 12 years. He has been my best friend and confident while we have been in China these last 12 years. Well his son Noah fell off the balcony of his apartment and here is the story. If you can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Noah fell over the railing from the 5th floor and landed on the concrete walkway. Since no one was with him and he cant remember what happened they dont know how it happened. He broke his back, neck, shattered his pelvic bones, broken leg and arm bones, and has cracked ribs. By all rights he should be dead. When Karl found out that his son had fallen from their apt. balcony he didnt expect him to be alive when he reached him. Noah was still breathing when they found him and took him to the hospital. They put him on a lung machine since his lungs were very badly damaged and were barely working.

As the days went by we found out that none of his organs, his brain or spinal cord were seriously damaged. After 5 days of healing he was taken off the lung machine and his lungs began working. That was the most critical moment because the doctors didn't know if they would work again. He only needed one surgery to put pins in one of his broken arms. All the other broken bones they were able to put back together and use casts or braces. It is now over 2 weeks since the accident and he needs about a month of bed rest (he is locked up pretty tight and has very little movement) and then they will start rehab. He is his normal self but has been in a lot of pain as everything heals.

Noah's recovery was such a miracle that the local news and radio ran stories about his accident and recovery The hospital has found this to be good for their reputation. We thank God for his answers to prayers and what we would consider quite a miracle. Every step of his recovery went faster than what the doctors predicted. They originally told Karl he had less than 25% chance of survival and if he did possible brain, organ, and/or spinal cord damage was very high. Yet at each step of the way we have seen nothing but full recovery.

The costs have been very high 10,000 USD the first week for intensive care and 500 USD a day for post op care the 2nd week onward. He is expected to be in the hospital for another month to 6 weeks and then physical therapy. We are trying to raise funds to pay for the first week of intensive care. So far the help and response has been incredible but the bills keep mounting.

So that is a short synopsis of what is going on. I see Karl almost every day since the hospital is just a block from where I am working in Nanning for a summer English camp. We go to lunch several times a week and I get to spend time with Karl and see Noah.

This Fundraiser allows nearly 100% of the funds to go to the family. They only charge a 2-3% fee when the money is transferred to Karl's account.
