CJ - John Saffron - passed away

I just learned via another site that John Saffron - CJ- passed away.
I thought it would be fitting - as SHF hosts the biggest repository of his methodology - to post the news here.

John, thank you for all that you have shared so freely. I still try to use your teachings daily.
It is a shame that you are gone at such a young age, and no longer there to teach us more.

Online messages of condolence always run the risk of falling into that "Me Too!!!" herd mentality on social media where it is just as important to be 'seen' publicly displaying grief as it is to experience it.

This seems to be one occasion where this generalism falters. This post is hopefully coming from a better place than that.......

I was informed of John's passing the other day, and was moved to tears.

I spoke to several people, and was struck by the depth of sadness I felt at the passing of someone I never actually met in real life.

I cannot speak to the impact that his knowledge had on others, but I would not be the trader I am without having come across the contents of the Captain's Chest!

It started me on a path that I am finding endlessly fascinating and rewarding on many levels.

John achieved something that many aspire to but few achieve. He had a positive impact on others. In my experience, he was a rare person of substance and integrity in a field riddled with shysters and charlatans.

You will truly be missed CJ, thank you for all the knowledge, guidance and patience, but most of all providing us with a glimpse of what lay beyond the shadows down this rabbit hole...

Folks, SHF is not a social media site.

Directly or tangentially, John affected everyone at SHF and will continue to do so for a long time to come.

Do not be afraid to leave your tributes here. Criticism for doing so is not allowed in this thread. I guarantee that. I will invite members to leave theirs in my Sunday wrup.

I was not sure how to sign off this post when I first wrote it. On reflection and given the time that John took teaching us all anything from something to mahoosive amounts, I am going with my usual.

I have lurked quietly on this site for years, but this necessitates a post. There is a lot of hocus garbage posted on the web but John's posts were pure gold. John, your thread is still one of my all time favourites. My deepest condolences to your loved ones. RIP.
