You've inspired me to see if I can dig up an old EA I set up about a year ago using one of Steve Hopwood's shell EA's, and shamelessly lifting all of his code from his Holy Graily Bob EA's. It used almost this exact strategy, and on the 15 minute TF. I wasn't limiting the trading hours on it, and I was using about 20 pips above the arrow as my SL. I gave up on it early after it was losing money after the first week, but it probably deserved a better chance to turn things around. Maybe with limited hours and the tighter SL, it would have been more successful. Ideas like this are always worth a try.
There are a lot of big moves in the first three hours of the London session. Are you skipping those because you live in a timezone where it's not practical to trade them, or are you doing it purposefully, looking for price to move a ways, pull back slightly, and the provide a big trend arrow as you get close to the overlap with the US session?
Anyway, hope there are lots of pips out there for you with this strategy!
I don´t trade london session from the beginning beacuse of time limitations, I live in latinamerica, so london session starts at 2am here...so imposible for me to trade it
The reason for trading london and US overlap is because of the great liquidity we get on that period of time. And that becomes specially important if we are trading lower timframes: we want to be able to catch as many pips as possible so we can beat the spread.
About the Stop loss, I just set it 2-3 pips above below the big arrow. By the way, I take the trades as I get the signal. I don´t wait for the candle to close.
Just to clarify, I am MANUAL TRADING. Not using the EA.
This first week has been very good. In my next post I am updating the results!
