You've inspired me to see if I can dig up an old EA I set up about a year ago using one of Steve Hopwood's shell EA's, and shamelessly lifting all of his code from his Holy Graily Bob EA's. It used almost this exact strategy, and on the 15 minute TF. I wasn't limiting the trading hours on it, and I was using about 20 pips above the arrow as my SL. I gave up on it early after it was losing money after the first week, but it probably deserved a better chance to turn things around. Maybe with limited hours and the tighter SL, it would have been more successful. Ideas like this are always worth a try.

There are a lot of big moves in the first three hours of the London session. Are you skipping those because you live in a timezone where it's not practical to trade them, or are you doing it purposefully, looking for price to move a ways, pull back slightly, and the provide a big trend arrow as you get close to the overlap with the US session?

Anyway, hope there are lots of pips out there for you with this strategy! 8-)
Hey cozybooks,
I don´t trade london session from the beginning beacuse of time limitations, I live in latinamerica, so london session starts at 2am here...so imposible for me to trade it :D

The reason for trading london and US overlap is because of the great liquidity we get on that period of time. And that becomes specially important if we are trading lower timframes: we want to be able to catch as many pips as possible so we can beat the spread.

About the Stop loss, I just set it 2-3 pips above below the big arrow. By the way, I take the trades as I get the signal. I don´t wait for the candle to close.

Just to clarify, I am MANUAL TRADING. Not using the EA.

This first week has been very good. In my next post I am updating the results!

First week using the HGI indicator. I have been trading forex for almost 9 years, and this indicator is one of the best tools I have found so far.
First I would like to thank Bob, Steve, Milanes, and all the people that contribute to create this amazing indicator.
I feel the need and obligation to contribute to help traders to become profitable using this indicator. I see a lot of people asking if this indicator works on lower timeframes, so I decided to forward test it on 15minute timeframe.

Just to be clear, I am MANUAL TRADING. Not using the EA.

I started this week on a US$ 1,000 demo account:

- Initial Balance: US$ 1,000
- Time frame: 15minute
- Lot size: 0.05. The average stop loss is 20 pips, it changes from pair to pair, but in average is 20 pips. So a loss is around US$ 10, thats 1% risk per trade on average.
- Pairs: EU, GU, UJ, Ucad, Ausd, aucad, cadjpy, chfjpy, nzusd, erugbp, cadchf, aususd, usdcad, ausnzd, nzdjpy.
- Session: 1 hour before US open until 1 hour after London close. So I catch the strong movements that take place during London and US overlap. We take like 20 trades a day.

I only take BIG ARROW TREND trades. No range trading, no wavy trading. Since we are trading the lower timframes, we should take the best and strongest signals. Take the trade as soon as the signal appears, DON´T WAIT FOR THE CANDLE TO CLOSE.
So I wake up 1 hour before US session starts and place trades, until 1 hour after London closes. After that I just ignore the new trades. By the time London closes I usually have some trades open, so I manage them by closing when a wavy signal appears. By the time US session ends, all the trades are usually closed.

So tu summarize: Take all BIG ARROW TREND trades (from 1 hour before US open until 1 hour after london close). Stop loss is placed 2 pips below or above the arrow.

Close the trade when a wavy signal happens.

Results today :+US$ 61. Thats 6% up, which is pretty good.
Max DD: 3%

I will keep testing it until the rest of the month. If everything goes well, I will open a live account on July to trade HGI.
If anybody have any questions, I am glad to answer! :D

Cheers!
UPDATING MY RESULTS from my 15m timeframe journey. First week, so far impressive results.

UPDATING

This is crazy! +900 pips of floating profit this week on the 4h timeframe. Will be posting some results next week! :yahoo:
Max. Drawdown 4.4%

4h srtategy:

Pairs: Around 25-28 pairs
Timeframe: 4h
Entry: Blue wavy (I wait for the candle to close). Stop loss: 3 pips above/below wavy
Exit: Yellow wavy or arrow in the opposite direction

I only take a look at the charts 4-5 times a day (every time a new candle opens). In my case at ESt time (GMT-5) that is:

-8am
- 12
4pm
- 8pm

I open the Empty4 and scan all pairs, if there was a signal on the last candle I place a new trade. If there was an exit signal, I close the trade. Also I take a look before going to bed around 10-11pm.

SIMPLE AS THAT
. In total, thats less than 1 hour per day dedicated to trading; and so far +900 pips up this week with only 4.4% DD
Will be posting some results soon ;)

Hi Guys,

For Hgi fans like myself, a tricky situation unfolding in EurUsd. Sell trade taken on 4Hr hgi trend signal also in the sixths zone which gives me a level of comfort.

Nevertheless we have a Daily Hgi buy trend signal. I placed a Buy stop just above yesterdays high. We shall see.. :)

Cheers

Eurusd Daily Super slope has turned red. For that reason I have a sell stop below my Rad sell signal. Sell from this morning locked in with profit. My buy stop stands for reasons explained earlier this morning.

Cheers
Leon.

Imaginative stuff as always Leon.

Just checking. You do understand that the position of an HGI signal does not represent the market price at which the signal was generated, don't you? And that the position of the signal at the time it was generated was merely an attempt to keep it clear of the market?
