The scotch my friend brought over turned out to be a Kentucky bourbon instead, Maker’s Mark. We visited that distillery last year and definitely worth the visit. BTW, I have been a Jamesons fan for a couple of years. Now that the morning fog has lifted a bit I am fooling around with the settings.

I had a plain Jane set file laying around that was most basic (I had labeled Steve’s Settings) and loaded it onto SPB 1W and it immediately started behaving. That “Basket cash take profit” that I mentioned stopped changing on me, so this shows I have been somewhat of a dimwit and somehow shot myself in the foot. I’ll have to compare the two batches of settings side-by-side and see if I can figure out where I had it wrong, but for now anyway, the basic set file worked.

I am still having problems with the dollop settings and may as well discuss it now.

SPB 1W, starting with basic settings
Equity = USD 7,000

Lot Size = .04
UseDynamicCashTP = True
CashTakeProfitPerLot = 5,000.00

UseBasketTrailingStopPercentage = True
BasketTrailingStopGapValuePercent = 1.8
BasketTrailingStopGapValuePercent = 0.3

Yields
Lot Size = .04
BasketTakeCashProfit = 200.00

So far, so good.

However, when I changed to using Dollops I got something odd.

Lot Size = 0.00
UseDynamicCashTP = True
CashTakeProfitPerLot = 5,000.00

LotsPerDollopOfCash = 0.01
SizeofDollop = 1,500.00
UseEquity = True
UseBalance = False

UseBasketTrailingStopPercentage = True
BasketTrailingStopGapValuePercent = 1.8
BasketTrailingStopGapValuePercent = 0.3

Yields
Lot Size = 0.10
(should still be 0.04)
Basket cash take profit = 500.00

Any entry in LotsPerDollopOfCash produces a lot size of 0.10, regardless of what is in the plain Lots field. Also, it’s curious that “Basket cash take profit” changed with the use of the dollop setting.

It’s incredible that you programmers can keep all this straight. :uff:

I have not been able to replicate this behaviour Sam.

Folks, whilst checking I noticed that UseBasketTrailingStopPercentage is accidentally set to 'true' so remember to reset it if you do not want this feature.

The good news from my point of view Sam - I cannot replicate your problem. Equity is $12,186.98

The display has not changed since loading.

Looks like the usual nuclear option:
  • Delete both .mql and .ex4 Peaky files.
  • Uninstall then reinstall the platform.
  • Re-download Peaky.
If this does not work:
  • Sacrifice a chicken.
  • Re-format the hard drive.
  • Cry.

I finally figured it out! :yahoo:

After more hours and hours of trying this and that, loading demos from various brokers, and worse yet, dragging Steve into this, I figured out what was causing the lot size to default to 0.10, whenever I had any entry in LotsPerDollopOfCash. Well, at least I found out the what, but not the why.

It happens with my TradersWay broker, when SPB is loaded on a XAUUSD chart. :uff:

I happened to figure it out when I loaded an Oanda demo and they didn't list XAUUSD, so I selected EURNOK and SBP worked! At this point I was still suspecting the broker, not the pair, but at least I knew my set file wasn't causing the bugger up. I contacted TW and they were no help. Just for grins, I tried another issue with TW and picked USDSGD at random.

Maybe it only happens with TradersWay, I can't be sure, but when I loaded SPB onto USDSGD it started working like a champ.

I'm sorry to have taken so much posting space on this stupid problem, but maybe it just might help someone else.

A problem solved is always easier in hindsight. I guess sacrificing the chicken worked.

Regards,

Sam
