Hello everyone!

We have redesigned http://protrader.com/ website. Please check it out and tell us what do you think :)

We also are working on new design and new content for our blog. Could you suggest some topics that you'd like to read there?

Thanks!

Martin,

I just went through this CTrader video intro (posted by Ramy3, Reply #12):
http://fxgears.com/forum/index.php/topic,24.0.html

1. Do you have a point by point comparison?
2. cTrader now seems to be on IC Markets and Bully Pepperstone (though I haven't tested anywhere.) How about your deployment?
3. cTrader claims to be able to translate all Empty4 scripts, EAs and indis for their platform. How about you?

Regards,
Athar.

1. Yes, we saw this... comparison. I would say it is a bit controversial. We do not have materials like this. Our strategy is to promote platform and its features. Every trader has own habbits and favorite features. It is up to real traders to make comparisons, I think.

2. cTrader is not available at Bully Pepperstone. Still. cTrader is a good platform. Really. Retail forex market needs more platforms. But it is not so easy to achive this goal. In reality we have total domination of monopoly which is very cheap for brokers and this makes very hard to compete with it for other platforms. So, even despite the fact that we already have a number of alternatives (in theory) it requires a lot of time when we will have them in practice. That's it. We all need time and patience.

As was mentioned above we had signed agreement with some AU broker but it requires time to see them offering something real.

3. Protrader supports MQL4 translation from the start. Technicaly it does not compile MQL4 or emulate VM for it. Protrader just translates MQL4 into C# and then compile it as native (for Protrader) C#-coded EA.

I am not aware about claims from Spotware regarding MQL4 support. As I know they were not going to implement it http://ctdn.com/forum/suggestions/747#2 Could you provide the links to such claims?

ps Yes, I am another Sergey Kovalyov. And to get some points from you, guys, I can say I was banned forever by Renat for asking embarrassing questions on MQL4.com forum long time before I went in cooperation with PFSOFT.

1. Do you have a point by point comparison?
For me it's quite hard to comment such material officially. I cannot resist the feeling, that this "other platform" in comparison is THE platform... if you know what I mean

As Sergey said, we do not want to refer to other platforms. Market became very diverse these days and it's good thing in my opinion. I think that there is space for both cTrader and Protrader as these platforms walk bit different ways. Real problem exists only for the "other platform" which is loosing the ground gradually.

About point by point description:

1) Our platform is built for STP and ECN models (including banks). It is integrated with greatest LP's in the world. It is also suitable for stocks, futures and other types of assets traded on regulated exchanges.
Please, check the list: http://pfsoft.com/#integrations

2) Protrader 3 backend DOES NOT provide the ability to manipulate live quotes in opposite to Virtual Dealer Plugin.

3) Rejecting trades and other functions similar to Dealing Desk are NOT available. But still liquidity provider may reject your trader - I belive it's called the "last look".

4) All standard types of orders are available plus some more - i.e. add bid, add ask, basket orders, portfolio trading.
Please check here: http://protrader.com/en/article/read/charttrading/25
And here: http://protrader.com/en/article/read/baskettrading/47

5) Hedging (meaning opposite positions on same instrument) and scalping are available. Actually Protrader 3 platform offers various tools making active trading and hedging easier to perform - visual trading, quick order management, exposition reports, tradable ladder (matrix) with full information about P/L, SL/TP, and so...
Example: http://protrader.com/en/article/read/matrixpl/35

6) Execution may vary because of various conditions. Protrader 3 was optimized in order to decrease order's latency. We lowered order latency 3 times comparing to Protrader 2.

7) We provide desktop, mobile and web versions of Protrader 3.

8) Market depth: http://protrader.com/en/article/read/mdquickbuttons/29
Level 2 prices: http://protrader.com/en/article/read/pr ... toring/131
But I would be very cautious about using it as "short term indicator of price direction" as stated in video. Data in MD/lvl2 depends on brokers feed and most probably do not contain enough of information because of OTC market nature and popularity of dark pools. But if you trade on a regulated exchange then these are great tools.

9) There are many ways to open, close and manage trades. Most in one click.

10) Layout customization is very complex providing almost unlimited possibilities.

11) With Protrader 3 you are able to use MQL4 as well as C#. No need of translating anything by yourself.

12) Count down to next candle is available as a chart functionality.

13) Please check AlgoStudio in Protrader 3. Great stuff!

2. cTrader now seems to be on IC Markets and Bully Bully Pepperstone (though I haven't tested anywhere.) How about your deployment?
I believe Sergey respond to this sufficiently.
3. cTrader claims to be able to translate all Empty4 scripts, EAs and indis for their platform. How about you?
You can just upload/import your MQL4 code into PT3. No need to translate.

I must say, all these points are just a tip of the iceberg. PT3 platform is very complex. Please give it a try and I think you won't regret.

He means anything that trades through an exchange rather than Over The Counter. ie. It is useful for stocks where everyone can see the orders from all brokers, not so much for forex where you can only see the orders of your broker.

Don't forget ProTrader can handle all sorts of markets, not just forex.

Ah ok. That's main problem with Forex.

Which Pool of liquidity bank can be taken as representative ?

Can we make an average of Level2 information from different brokers with different pool to have a good representation of Level2 information ?

I used to use Market Depth extensively when trading stocks, but I just don't think it's possible on FX. I read something earlier today claiming that even Reuters only accounts for 3% of the daily FX transactions. So even if you took a company as big as that as representative of the market it doesn't really mean much. If you want to try and get a better representation by combining the information from several sources you'll have to find sources willing to release that information, and aside from a few retail brokers I'm not aware of any.
