Help for only 25 more days

The purpose of this charity was to keep fundraisers from going on and on. You meet an immediate need then go on. It is meant for emergencies. Once the 40 days are up it is closed and the funds are dispersed to the person in need. The charges of the charity are taken out when the money is dispersed which is just over 2%. Clearly one of the best charity's costs I have ever seen. You would then have to start a new one.

Basically we have tremendously helped Karl and his family out. In China whether you have insurance or not the bills must be paid in cash in advance. Then you are responsible to collect from the insurance company. Karl had to pay the ambulance before they transported and had to make a deposit at the hospital. This puts a tremendous strain on one's finances at the time of need. I was able to help Karl and my daughter who understood this started the charity drive on Facebook. Anyway with this fund and his own family and friends we were able to help Karl meet the need and get the bills paid. Many foreigner's insurance companies will not cover in China but they have to transport to Hong Kong or Thailand or go back to their home country. If you teach in China the schools are responsible to pay the bills for you and then collect from the insurance company. Every contract I have signed in China has a 30 day clause in it if you miss work for more than 30 days the contract can be terminated. The 2 foreigners I knew who went beyond 30 days with a hospital stay though were taken care of by their schools so it was not abused.

I have had to help my Chinese employees at my school several times with funds to help pay for medical bills. So unlike other countries where you pay after the services are rendered medical bills here are paid before services are rendered. According to law hospitals are suppose to help everyone in need but the quality of service is very poor if you cant pay and many procedures are left out if you cant pay. Just the absolute bare minimum if even that. So I dont know how good Karl's insurance is but their deductibles are nasty here in China and they often hold reimbursements for years. They often dont cover many items.

My daughter, Crystal, and her boyfriend, Bryce, who understood what they faced put a tremendous amount of work in getting this charity open and running and I am very proud of her. I think Karl and his family, friends, etc. were able to take care of everything else. The help people gave from here was tremedous and helped one the greatest persons I have known. Karl has been my best friend and adviser while here in China and I dont know what I would have done without him. I am very thankful to Steve, Milanese, and the others here who helped and participated. Noah is very appreciative too. Hopefully in 10 days he can go home. It is a true miracle that he survived.

Hi Guys
We have 2 more days left and we have reached our target

. However, there is no rule stating we can not exceed the target!!! Every time I visit Noah`s page and see those angelic eyes full of mischief I can see my own son. I pray he recovers fully and avoids gigantic mischief in the years to come.

We reached our goal of 10K for Karl's family with 2 days left. Excellent. Now its Daddy brag time.

Crystal I am so proud of you. You took the bull by the horns, stepped up to the plate and hit a grand slam home run. You and Bryce are to be congratulated for a job well done. The two of you saw a desperate need and filled the gap. That was one of the best things I have ever seen and your mom and dad are very proud of you. Karl is so grateful for helping him out and Noah even talked about you the last time we were at the hospital. You are a great person with a big heart for those in need. Your heart will take you far in life and always protect that generous spirit of yours.

Bryce I really appreciate you and have loved getting to know you. No matter what happens in life our door is always open to you and your quiet generous spirit. You two have begun to learn the real important things of life. Well done, well done.

Update on Noah. Monday he gets the traction removed and hopefully one final CT scan. If all goes well we hope early in the week he will be able to go home. Also Karl (the father) has now broken his ankle so he is immobilized at home. I guess when it rains it pours.

I wish Noah and now Karl a speedy recovery. On behalf of everyone here I applaud Crystal and Bryce for initiating this fund raising drive

. You are an enlightened soul and it is only natural for your children to have inherited some of your finer qualities. Moreover, since like minded people tend to be attracted to each other, it is no wonder that Bryce shares the same values and morals as his soul mate.

I was delighted to see many members of our community contributed to this worthy cause.

You are right about this forum most of that last 25% came from people here and I couldnt have been more pleased. I will go visit Noah in the hospital this weekend hopefully for the last time. Believe this is a real miracle. Karl has told me several times when he walked down the stairs he never expected his son to be alive. He saw his lifeless body and then notice some shallow breathing and the rest is history. God is good even in the bad.

I talked to Karl today. The braces and traction were removed this morning. They then raised the bed so he could sit up. He hasnt been able to do that in a month. They will start the process of getting him on his feet step by step. The first step is to sit up so he doesnt pass out. Then they will do an MRI this afternoon to make sure there are no issues. Then they will keep moving him around until they think he can stand up on his own. This process will take several days. We hope to see Noah go home soon. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I went to Karl's place yesterday and visited Karl and Noah. Karl is able to hobble around with a cane so he is up and around again. Noah is walking but has soreness in his feet. He is also wearing a neck brace for another 2-3 weeks. He then will go for an exam to check everything out. He moves slowly and deliberately but is very happy to be up and about. It will take months to get back to normal but we dont know what his new normal will be. Noah says hi and is thankful for you prayers, gifts, and thoughts. Will keep you posted.

That Boy is a living miracle. I have told his tale to many of my friends and none of them think that could have been possible. We have you to thank for bringing his plight to our attention and mobilizing us to help both in material and moral support. Please give our regards to KARL and Family.

On a lighter note, I was just wondering how many brothers NOAH has? I think there were 7 of them in the photo. Is KARL battling the Chinese governments one child policy?!?!??

Karl and his wife are USA citizens so the one child policy doesnt apply to them. Yes all his children are boys.
